yeah it's a big cop culture thing to act like you are under extreme threat at all times. and there is a lot of institutionalized panic about what people might do with their cars in particular.
I have to be honest. this isn't meant to downplay the seriousness of what's happening now, and this isn't meant to be glib. But this is also how ALL cops act. The first time I got screamed at like this by a cop, I was 16, because of a traffic jam in the school parking lot. Every single one of them

the fact that he fled the scene is so telling too. HE knows he did it because he felt emasculated and small, not because the car was in any defensible way a material threat to his safety. he would have stood by it if he had. this was a tantrum, but because he had a gun, a human being is dead

One thing Ross’s angle of the shooting reveals is that he had pretty decent evidence that the person he was about to shoot is a Lesbian and I don’t think it’s unwarranted to venture that this influenced his eagerness to kill her
