It seems to me that if you want to make more Bond films, you should just...make a James Bond movie and pretend "No Time to Die" never happened. Yes I know the symbolism but...will audiences really care? I don't think so. Just don't worry about it.

oh man, Coppola cast *Danny Huston* to play Joseph in Marie Antoinette. That is some solid casting for the tone of this letter.

The problem with Episode 1 isn't that it's about taxation of trade routes. The problem is it's terribly presented, incoherent, and otherwise in a movie made pretty blatantly for an 11 year-old.
Be normal about a Star Wars movie: impossible
The inciting incident for conflict in The Phantom Menace being a trade war is inherently a flaw, according to a writer for the New York Times (a piece of unofficial regime propaganda for the current presidential administration).

It's always fun to get an ILL book from your alma mater, especially if you used it already. Like having an old friend visit.

To be abundantly clear, I am a loyal Democrat. I have been a registered Democrat basically as long as I have been able to vote (I was declined to state for like six months in college), and was basically raised to be a Democratic partisan. The Democrats are my party, always have been, always will be.

Schumer must go. One failure, which is at least understandable in context, is forgivable. Schumer has had too many. He is not worthy of leading the party, a party whose nominees he won't even say he voted for.
Let's chuck Chuck.

I'm seeing a lot of accounts here complain about federal workers "crashing out" over the shutdown vote, and like...what the fuck do you think the PMC becoming the Democratic base entails? Vibes? Essays? This all feels pretty absurd, frankly, you were expecting them to just take this happily?

When I was 18 I once wished to storm into a school board meeting, as a recent high school graduate, and quote this exact line to the feckless morons who made up our school board and ran the district poorly. I was talked down by my much more sensible and level-headed relatives.
No, I think that’s got “you have sat here too long for any good you have done” before the “in the name of God, go!”

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Schumer's gotta go. Either he is complicit but trying to keep it hidden or he wasn't able to keep the caucus in line. Either way, he's gotta go. He is not the man we need right now.

A part of me wonders if the entire Kurtzman era has been the result of confusing the Federation and Earth Alliance from Babylon 5.

I am tempted to hate-watch Section 31 with some hapless friends of mine. But now that I am in a Star Trek phase, I am still curious how the Romulan sun went nova without the Romulans figuring it out or stopping it in time. Perhaps the post-Shinzon power struggle crippled them?

I appreciate that the professional-managerial class is now considered the real revolutionary class on here but I worry that this, combined with an increasing contempt for the proles here, means we are perhaps a bit too willing to let them starve in a political fight.

It is actually kind of funny that so soon after making the anti-Woke pivot, the Sydney Sweeney movie about a lesbian boxer completely crashed and burned at the box office. Did you even know "Christy" was a thing? Because I sure didn't.

They haven't even seen Babylon 5?!?!
I am listening to the latest "Rewind" episode on Star Trek and listening to Darren describe the worldview of Deep Space 9 and how it is in many ways in tension with The Next Generation really made it click for me why, despite loving Deep Space 9, I just prefer Babylon 5.

"Kingsman" is emblematic of an old Democratic Tory ideology where the old British (and to a lesser extent European) aristocratic ruling class are the rightful ruling class, but by virtue of values and ideology; even a prole can become worthy by adopting them. "Manners maketh man."
