"Hitler is laser focused on Barbarossa, but how is that going to make German quality of life better?"
The White House is laser focused on threatening a military takeover of Greenland.

Where’s the same focus on lowering costs?

People can talk about how much things have changed for the worse, but I managed to make some moves for positive change in my life, and I didn't even have to wait 24 hours for it all to be immediately wiped away and then some.

The wonderous speed of modern progress.

Antonio Salazar, because he'd be so amazingly *bad* at it.

Like, DeSantis levels of juiceless.
Do you have a historical figure you most wish got to be a poster? I feel like you must have a better answer than mine, which is Churchill. The guy started autobiography when he was 19 I think. And just never stopped. True poster.

I'll admit that, for all my misgivings, Mamdani is doing stuff I like and winning me over.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.

The problem with so many "leftists" is that they've never held a real job.

Systems have to be maintained, people have to be paid, and equipment needs upkeep and repair.

These things don't become untrue because of collective ownership!

The lesson of January 6th is that it does absolutely no good to prosecute the the violent foot soldiers if you're not going to prosecute the leaders and hold them accountable for their sedition under the full force of the law.

I would simply like to point out that I was calling for Europe to build its military might and detach from the USA during the Obama administration generally, and since the first Trump administration on social media.

"The United States never engaged in imperialism" is the exact same lie as when Russia says it, but it's also wrong even by the standards of the lie, which is "imperialism is when boats."

We engaged in imperialism to expand the country, and we engaged in imperialism in both Americas and elsewhere!
KERNEN: Europeans are talking about it almost being like Vladimir Putin and Ukraine.

JEFF LANDRY: I disagree. When has the United States engaged in imperialism? Never. Europe has engaged in imperialism. The reason the Danish have Greenland is because of imperialism.

If he's rejecting it out of hand, that tells me two things.

1) He is not worried about getting ousted.
2) None of his members are pursuing a shutdown seriously.
Chuck Schumer rejecting out of hand the one point of leverage he has, the one that was actually working really well last year until he caved, is the most Chuck Schumer he can be.

Five years ago today, American liberal democracy abdicated its responsibilities, and allowed itself to die by indifference.

Our options are something new and better, or desperately trying to glue together a system that is broken beyond repair.

We're not going back to 2009.

One thing about the oil industry is that, for all of the horrible shit it does, it's still a productive industry. You still have to make a product and sell it to people who want an actual product. Shares are based on actual market forces.

This is why Trump can't comprehend it.

Very reminiscent of Chernov and the SRs during the Provisional Government.

"Listen, we'll have land reform, peace, and elections. We just need to get to a moment where we can do that."

But rents kept going up, offensive kept being launched, and the "revolutionaries" changed nothing.
it's all self soothing stuff, it always is. it's not even political fandom half the time, it's grasping onto whatever they can find to reassure themselves the system works and smart, moral people are in charge. "they don't ACTUALLY support any of this stuff, it's just strategy"

His Holiness should PNG the ambassador

Also once again I am begging him to place this country under interdict.
In a stunning breach of diplomatic norms, Trump's ambassador to the Holy See issued a statement that misrepresented Pope Leo’s remarks on Venezuela in order to defend the U.S. military invasion.

Such a misrepresentation is unprecedented in the history of formal relations between the two governments
Trump’s Vatican Ambassador Misrepresents Pope Leo’s Venezuela Remarks to Defend U.S. Military Action
Brian Burch’s public spin on Pope Leo XIV’s Venezuela remarks marks a striking departure from four decades of candor in U.S.–Vatican relations.

Yeah, this is an issue that's been noticed and worked against since the Biden administration.

The fact Republicans only care because they're racists does not take away from the fact that corruption is rampant in childcare and non-profits in general.
