The options are either that the Democrats abandoned the entire project the moment they got the slightest whiff of success, and threw the blame onto the people least likely to suffer political consequences for doing this, or the party is such a mess that the literal party whip defected.

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

You can't maintain unity if nobody ever pays for fuckups.

I can divide my friend group's beliefs on the shutdown into four groups at this point:
1) Friends who I agree with
2) Friends who I disagree with
3) Friends who don't follow politics
4) Friends who I disagree with and who repeatedly told me to kill myself if I don't believe in the Democratic Party

Have contempt for voters all you want, but every day shows us more and more why voters were right not to buy Democratic messaging about how they were the only ones who could stop fascism.
The average person can often sniff out insincerity, and it disgusts them.

We're well past "one death is a tragedy" and into "a million deaths is a statistic." We've been there since January. If you're not willing to make hard choices by spreadsheet, you're not up to the moment.

Our only hope is that the Republicans are more dumb than the Democrats are corrupt.
i think the question is "do enough of the HFC accept the anti-RIF language" and i think that's likely? it does undermine the big way that the WH has sold the HFC on the spending packages but like... that is no longer the WH's problem (might be a problem for the Real Aprops bills)
Massie is a guaranteed no, which means the R's can lose all of like 2 votes in the house, which is always math in that caucus of frothing howler monkeys that can be problematic.

Morale is actually important. No parliamentary trickery, no amount of court cases, no party platform, will save a leadership cadre that is despised and mistrusted by those they rely to do the lifting.

No see, this way all that suffering was clearly forced on them to drive turnout, not to save the country.
The elections are over, they won. Time to get the Trump economy limping forward again and make it so private jets can take off from airports. Fuck you, poor people.

if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

Come now. Were you expecting the Democrats to hold the line for long? It's been a week, which is honestly longer than I expected.
They aren't going to lead us out of this. We need new leaders, and we sure as hell won't find them in that party.

We're about three weeks from seeing the first guys strung up, so of course now is when the surrender caucus decides to surrender.

Leadership is a lifestyle and a practice.
Leadership is service.
Leadership is “Come with me!” and “I got you!” far more often than it is “Follow me!” or, especially, “Look at me!”
We the People know this, but some chose to f*** around.
Now we’re finding out.

Remember the time Obama personally caught a fainting woman during his speech — rather than just blankly staring like a sociopath?

It is deeply depressing to think that, with the new Blood Bowl rules coming out, I've kinda just lost the desire to keep playing.
A bunch of okay teams and bad teams got gutted, and the best teams either were lightly dinged, untouched, or outright boosted.
It sucks to see GW ruin something I like.

Keep in mind that the numbers are likely more in favor of violence than it shows here, because a lot of people are smart enough to say no when asked a question about that, regardless of their thoughts.

Grok was not entirely correct, Grim was also not correct, and the most pathetic thing is that Grim actually cares what Grok says about history.
It's being built as a propaganda bot, man. If Grok agreed with me on a question regarding political history, I'd be nervous.

All things made by man, no matter how ubiquitous, no matter how cheap to produce by the piece, no matter how insignificant, is the product of human labor and ingenuity.
Everything has a cost, and that cost must be borne by someone, or a group of people. It's an iron law that no creation is free.
