Me: Brain, it is time to sleep
Brain: No, it is time to thiiiiiink
Me: OK. Can we think about important things?
Brain: No, we will think about stupid things.

Sigh.

For taxpayers, every piece of cycling infrastructure is a gift that keeps on giving.

An asset that returns annual savings in congestion, pollution, maintenance, safety and healthcare over its lifetime.

Stop asking whether your city can afford to invest in cycling. Ask whether it can afford not to.

Still think about you every day, dad. But, particularly grateful for you on this Veterans' Day 🫡

Not everyone gets to score in every game :)
Kurt Dresner still trails incumbent Jon Pascal. But right now it looks like three of the four Cherish Kirkland-aligned "sanity slate" candidates are going to lose.

Sign up for text alerts. Seriously. Just do it. You'll be notified if there's a problem with your ballot as soon as it is detected and you'll have the chance to fix it. Don't make work for some volunteer who has to track you down.

Meanwhile in the car-dependent US, we're paying $1000/mo to wait in traffic and die in huge numbers. #thisisfine
In Paris, you can get a monthly public transport pass for the city and its surroundings (Île-de-France) for less than 100€/month, and your employer has to reimburse at least half of it.

I think a thing we'll learn tonight is that people fucking hate what is going on and they will straight ticket vote against anyone involved in starving people while pillaging the country and kidnapping their neighbors. I don't think it matters at all who that person is.

As a PSA, if you haven't returned your ballot yet, make sure to use a blue drop box, DON'T mail it. Postmarks are very possibly NOT going to be able to be made in time to make your vote count.

Here's where to find a ballot drop box: kingcounty.gov/en/dept/elec...

Having the right tool can mean the difference between a task being trivial or practically impossible. This morning I found myself trying to shorten a bolt with a hacksaw while holding it in my other hand. I stopped and thought for a moment and then grabbed the purpose-made bolt cutter.

What you don't see in this photo:

Three parents who aren't stuck in a car.
Three parents who get their mornings back.

That's the invisible dividend of investing in infrastructure that provides safe, independent mobility for young people.
