Ciao, Italy. You are a beautiful place with amazing food and lovely people.

Here’s my favorite photo from the last ten days, enjoying with my two-year-old his favorite feature of our rural Tuscan villa (every 5-10 minutes, you could faintly see a passenger train going by in the distance).
Sec. Simon is among the few statewide DFL leaders, along with AG Ellison, who are meeting the moment. We’re so lucky to have him in office. He should be our next governor.

If they wanted this to end they could leverage their capital to do so. They don’t actually want the ICE operations that are widely unsupported to stop. They’ll still let ICE stage in their lots, let Bovino terrorize customers, and let their employees get attacked by ICE on the job.
INBOX: 60+ CEOs of Minnesota-based company call for "an immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions."

No mention of ICE in the letter.

Rest in peace Alex Pretti. You will be remembered as a hero. I saw my immigrant neighbors out tonight mourning. You’ve touched the hearts of our immigrant community. We will not rest until justice is served.

Alex Pretti was killed in broad daylight by the federal government all because he was out caring for his neighbors. We won’t let them stop us and we will keep watching out for our neighbors to honor him.

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.

Heads up, chin up. I see you on the streets, on your block, & in community. Thanks for being there for our immigrant neighbors.

There have been losses but there have been many more victories. When a family makes it some safe for the night we get to celebrate.

We will win. I promise. I love you.

Today, I am thinking about my dear friend @kayforparks.bsky.social who is showing up to every park and whistling ICE out of MPRB Property, and also showing up to support families after they are kidnapped. I am so grateful for you. Thank you for advocating for the safety of our youth and families.

Welcome to Minneapolis. Our neighbors have witnessed too many war crimes at this point. Federal agents even left weapons on the ground.

It will also be a public day of mourning and a pause in economic activity.

I hope you’ll join the thousands of Minnesotans who are participating in this action. We can show the world what impact our lives and dollars have.

Dear neighbor,

I’m joining faith leaders, union representatives and community members who are calling for a Day of Truth and Freedom on Friday, January 23, 2026.

This will be a general strike in Minnesota (no work, school, or shopping) in support of our immigrant neighbors. 1/

I’ve had many out-of-state friends reach out to check in and ask where to donate. All very appreciated! To them (and all), I will say absolutely do not donate to the DFL. Their leaders have been absent at best and often offer counterproductive messaging.

Instead, go to www.standwithminnesota.com

I lost my wallet on the E Line yesterday. Got a call today that staff have it and nothing was taken. This is the first nice wallet I’ve ever had, bought in Italy and made from Tuscan leather.

Such a nice bit of joy while under occupation. Shout out to all wonderful Metro Transit staff involved!
My wife left her bag on the MTA yesterday and today… it was at lost and found! Somebody actually went through the trouble.

Given how absolute shit things are, this was an unexpected kindness. I credit the good feelings engendered by the Mamdani administration. :)

Also the good people at the MTA.
