I don't purport to know what WA Bikes was thinking. They endorsed against me and I'm guessing the reasoning was similar.

Cynically speaking, WA Bikes was possibly being strategic here. Harrell might spite them if he won and they endorsed against him, but is Katie Wilson going to work less hard on bike infra because WA Bikes snubbed her?

Long-term, however, strategic moves like that massively undercut credibility.

I've learned that there are many kinds of endorsements that orgs make. From "this candidate will most benefit the goals of the org" to "this candidate's personal politics reflect the personal politics of org members" to "we think this candidate will win and want to be on their good side".

I think we need to be careful and clear about what we mean by "picked the wrong candidate". If you mean they picked the candidate that lost, I think that kind of thinking is exactly what got us here in the first place.
