This is, no shit, half of Mittens' basic income plan except his went through social security, not the tax system.
The best idea a Democrat could run on is throwing Matt Yglesias into a volcano.

I have forever regretted not letting the door to a DC office building shut in John Bolton's dipshit face
I refused to shake Giuliani's hand in 2022, and boy, did that feel satisfying for the rest of my life.

How should Democrats talk about ICE? ft. Matt Yglesias episode of the New Liberal Podcast

Is something I could not be paid enough to listen to. Godspeed to anyone who clips it

My kid asked from the back seat of the car why I snort laughed

At one point today, there were 283 Minnesota attorneys doing a training on how to file emergency habeas petitions to keep our neighbors from being shipped out of state and held indefinitely.

That would be the second largest law firm in the state. And that training was just put together this week.

This decision from the 3d Circuit is a travesty for Mahmoud and his family. If it sticks (which there are ways to challenge and delay), it will lead to ICE re-detaining him. And they may try to re-detain him now, even though that'd be illegal.

Called @repdean.bsky.social 's office to try to understand her vote. They usually have someone answering but not today.

Nothing on the website either.

Easily to look up the talking points from the appropriations chair on everything Republicans got in the bill.
The House voted 341 to 79 to fund Trump's war-mongering foreign policy agenda.

Only 57 Democrats voted NO.

What is the unit name? Wrong answers only.

How does one measure frequency of Western Psychology?

KiloFreuds? MicroBecks? MilliSkinners?
“Psychologically Western.” In the Gilded Age, America’s elite embraced the pseudoscience of eugenics to justify their own sense of superiority and provide backing for racist and anti-immigrant policies. Pretty rich for Musk and his internet-broken brain to be judging the psyches of others.

And they don't even follow the bloody appropriations anyway!

Scott Adams' deserved hate notwithstanding, I really loved the Dilbert cartoon growing up and its humor shaped a lot of my own, particularly his collaboration with larry charles on the animated series. That stuff is so old I FTP'd RealPlayer rips in high school.

Immigrant Rights side of Cato publishing welfare program analysis that doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out is a nice start to the day.
New research: Noncitizens Were Underrepresented in Welfare Fraud Convictions in 2024. Noncitizens were 8% less likely to be convicted of welfare fraud in 2024, and they were 28% less likely to be convicted of fraud that imposed monetary losses to the government.

With a handful of important exceptions, no national Democrats or state governors are promising this.

I will be a part of any political coalition who will
These aren't normal times for politics, but even if they were, it's so clear that Democrats either don't know how to do politics or don't want to. Their position on the board is "the president is hated and his goon forces are despised" and they seem at wit's end how to message from that position.

In no way a dunk (just despair) but I do not believe Democrats will do this.

I have been waiting my entire adult life for them to learn a lesson and it's never gonna happen.
Democrats who want to abolish ice should start introducing legislation to roll back the creation of DHS. It was a specific post 9/11 law that combined previously extant functions into a single new department. Let’s start getting that model legislation out there. (Is it already?)

Day 2 of asking why the Governor's AG is holding up millions in Americorps grants because PA refuses to review and sign the contracts their programs submitted at the beginning of the school year.

After frantic calls, the best they'll maybe do is payment in March. If everything goes right.

Hey @governor.pa.gov, why is your administration holding up Americorps contracts worth millions of dollars so nonprofit workers have to get furloughed?
