I feel like a subset of people online conflate “protesting and activism” with “posting about things online”

A reminder that involvement in protests should not be posted, and just because someone isn’t posting about an issue doesn’t mean they don’t care about it.
DON'T talk about it to your peers.
DON'T tell your parents.
DON'T post about it on social media.
DON'T go into it thinking you're gonna be a folk hero.
DO what you can, with what you have.

Hey kids, let's have a chat...

When workers go on strike or a group starts a boycott or otherwise asks you not to shop at a business...

...that is NOT the time to say how you don't use them anyway and talk shit on the company and its products/services. You're not helping. The opposite in fact.

Bluesky Support has suspended this furry congressional candidate's account for no apparent reason. They want to limit his reach and kill his campaign, presumably for not being whatever they consider "advertiser friendly". We really need to get loud about this, and not let them get away with it

For each cartoonishly obvious nazi the dems try to woo, they turn away a thousand potential voters.

To normal people, this is terrible electoral math but to dem consultants this is job security.

Yeeeeeah Microsoft has been under the impression that they're the only game in town just because corporate inertia favored Office.

But you fucking push somebody and they're going to realize Office-style software is pretty straightforward to make and there are gobs of competitors in that space.
The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

do you think the women Bill Clinton sexually harassed and coerced into sex (in other words: raped) forgave him.

are the liberals really gloating about how their sex pest only abused women, not girls. is that the line?—is everyone in America living vicariously through the eyes of millionaire rapists

Any other time, any other President, and "the dude was in a global conspiracy to fuck them kids" would have been 24/7 coverage. Even Dubya.

I remember the fucking Lewinsky coverage. Our media have become craven hacks carrying water for rich pedophiles and I feel insane typing that but there it is.

It’s weird how Trump keeps helping out sexual predators of children
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex

The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.

You have to understand what pieces like this from the NYT are and are not.

They are not an honest assessment of the state of politics today.

They are a negotiation tactic—an effort by a calcified, right-leaning legacy institution to steer the discourse in a direction more palatable to elites.

It's called "bluffing," and it's a lost art after social media has programmed people to broadcast their every thought.
Here’s an important note when you call up key senators to yell at them.

This is really important:

YOU
CAN
LIE

You can call their office and tell them you’ll never give another dollar or another vote to a Democrat for what they did & they better fix their shit right now.

It’s OK if that’s a lie.
