Every leftist concerned with Cuba right now really ought to keep in mind Kamala Harris would neither have kidnapped Maduro nor be throttling Cuba to death right now, were she President.

If you abstained because she "wasn't perfect", congratulations. You should've thought of this before not voting.

the federal government trying to threaten a company into forcing them to do business with the government on the government's terms would have turned a particular type of republican lawmaker into a suicide bomber not even 30 years ago
the guy that hasn't washed his hands in years is threatening a $300 bn AI company's existence

because they want guarantees that he won't use their AI to surveil American citizens or kill people autonomously

and he refuses to agree to those terms

There are about two dozen mentions of Gavin Newsom in my feed and literally all of them are just randos saying they won't vote for him no matter who gets hurt.

About one of the Trump accusers in this piece:

“The interview [with the alleged victim and her attorney] was conducted July 24, 2019, and entered into the FBI’s case files on August 9, the day before Epstein was found dead in his jail cell.”

I’m proud of our common inheritance of ordered liberty and our heritage of killing Nazis when necessary.
If you think there’s NOTHING in our heritage (or in any nation’s) to be unapologetic about, you’re a fool. A dangerous fool.

i think you can judge how free - or not - our political media is by the fact that elon musk literally did a sieg heil (twice) at a rally and it’s still seen as uncouth and overly partisan (in legacy media) to describe his politics as straightforwardly white supremacist.

All of this quote:
“Both Good and Pretti were engaged in the task that democracies assign to citizens: that of paying close attention to the workings of power. If the price of liberty is eternal vigilance, a country that inflicts the ultimate punishment on those who dare to be vigilant can no longer be free.”
"The Crime of Witness" by Fintan O’Toole in @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social

"The videos that expose the administration’s mendacity about its own use of extreme violence against peaceful dissent are themselves products of the courage to show up [and] see for yourself."

The more you know really rich people the more true this becomes.
One of the great myths of our society is that really rich people are rich because they are smart.

They are not rich because they are smart.

They are rich because are broken. Because nothing matters more to them than hording wealth. Because they lack morality, empathy, and social responsibility.
It’s also virtually impossible to become a billionaire without choosing immorality many, many times.

i think most (not all) of the "you must vote for Newsom" people are just Newsom supporters who want him to win because they like him and his policies, not because they have high minded ideas about harm reduction.

The thing to understand is that we are in this mess because a great deal of this country refused to believe Trump tried to commit an insurrection, despite it being televised.
hello and welcome to the political genius exam. here is question one. which is a more compelling message:

- the president is sending armies to occupy cities and kidnap and kill people and your town could be next
- a meal at the cheesecake factory that previously cost $100 now costs $104.9
Romance alert: Trump's reckless tariffs have Valentine’s Day costs up across the board:

Roses 🌹16.6%
Chocolates🍫 18.7%
Ribeye 🥩 25.4%
Restaurant meals 🍽️ 4.9%

without Black/African music there were no Beatles, there are no Stones
Reinforcing the premise that conservatism is founded on ignorance, Marco Rubio also seems clueless that both the Beatles and the Stones got their start trying their best to recreate Black American music and the fifth Beatle was a Black American man who also contributed heavily to the Stones.
Reading Marco Rubio’s speech about how “western civilization” is about embracing God, rejecting the foolish ideal of cosmopolitanism, and celebrating the genius of bands like The Beatles who were founded by the guy who wrote that song about a world with no countries or the concept of heaven & hell.

CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

She had been trafficking since 1994. This could get another 25 years added to her sentence.

Setting aside all the other red flags I don't understand why anyone thinks it's a good idea to have a completely inexperienced and unvetted Senator!

The fact that he wants to start out at the top is extremely sus.
the focus has been mostly on the nazi tattoo, but a lot of what platner said on social media is heinous, and his blanket assertions that he's a better person don't seem to me to be adequate.
