Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

No sign of this being remotely true, by the way

They are marketing all of this to the most lonely, terminally socially awkward people imaginable. And they are doing so knowingly.

Just hate how openly vile everything is becoming.

This isn’t doomerism, so much as acknowledging that it’s a small circle of reactionary, violent, ideologically blinkered people making these calls. If they’re openly talking about doing something dumb, by definition that thing isn’t off the table just because it would be monumentally stupid

I decided to use today to reset my caffeine intake, which peak and the availability of soda at home have made especially high of late.

To say that I am struggling would be an understatement of gargantuan proportion.

Very worried at just how much I was using that as a crutch.

This is also where Dems should double down on telling US troops not to obey illegal orders, such as attacking a NATO country in direct violation of the NATO charter, the UN charter, and US law (including and especially the Constitution!).

This is something Dems should legit shut down the government over. If he wants to destroy NATO, he can do it with zero dollars and zero cents in government funding.
This is a direct response to the European statements. It’s an attempt at a palliative.

It’s still the worst act the United States has pondered since the Mexican War and it think there’s an least a 50% chance it happens.

NATO is basically over unless Senate Rs like Senator Kennedy build a barrier.

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

I don't know how to describe it, but there's this profound brokenness in the American body politic where nobody can take the implications of anything seriously. People keep saying things that should be existential threats to the political system, and then everyone just keeps going on as normal.

If Dems talked like this regularly, we wouldn't have to focus on "how to win close elections in difficult environments." We would have a lot fewer close elections, and a lot fewer difficult environments.
Walz is out of Fs: "Not a single Republican supported this, so every Minnesotan from here on, whoever uses this program, there is no bit of thanks that would go to the R legislators who did all they could to stop this ... our schools have money to pay their teachers? I'll take credit for that too."

i agree, and i think it is more important than ever to go out into the world and exist.

go to a local school board or city council meeting

pick up from the restaurant instead of door dash

buy the things in the store instead of online

etc
my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

Again, it’s worth pointing out that the supposed mission of most of these people is to “preserve western civilization” and “promote christian morals”, and yet at every turn their actions and rhetoric show that they don’t give a shit about either, and actually have profound contempt for both.
This is basically the view of the world that Plato sets out to refute in the Republic. One of the core questions asked therein is: why do powerful people think the mere fact of them exercising dominion makes it good for them to do so? Sure, you *can* get away with stuff if you're powerful - so what?
Here is the Trump Doctrine, as articulated by Stephen Miller in his truly frightening interview with Jake Tapper this afternoon. It is very much like the doctrine of the dictators we fought and defeated in World War II and of Putin today. It is un-American at its very core.
