What beauty is, I know not, though it holds fast to many things.
I DM’d for the second time and it went kind of OK! Now decompressing…by watching Critical Role on YouTube.

The BBC is the biggest thump of soft power the UK has and its reach and influence to the benefit of the country is extraordinary. Destroy it, hugely damage the UK. The same people who helped weaken us over Brexit are seeking to do it again.
Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.

I was not prepared for the sheer number of trick-or-treaters tonight. Had to leg it to the shops as the sweets barely lasted 10 minutes!

I write middle-grade whodunnits, so you might want to dismiss my opinion out of hand. But I think cosy games/crime sometimes miss the fact that blankets are only cosy when it's cold outside. A world without conflict / a story without stakes isn't cosy, it's just safe.
We need to talk about the cozyfication of games because it’s a serious disease, possibly as bad as the edgyfication of the 90s and the grittyfication of the 00s.

Parents, please check your kids’ candy this Halloween. I’ve just found an ancient metal whistle with the inscription “QUIS EST ISTE QUI VENIT" inside a Snickers bar. I blew it and heard a note of infinite distance, and now I’m haunted by a figure in pale, fluttering draperies. Be safe.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

What an absolutely incredible, joyous achievement for everyone involved. Hurrah for science and scientists! www.bbc.com/news/article...

plenty of things going against the right globally: Bolsonaro's conviction in Brazil, the defeat of the right wing in Norway's election, the student strikes and Saba Saba protests in Kenya (brutal as the repression there was), the EU's von der Leyen pursuing sanctions and trade suspension for Israel

think the reason why this feels both frightening and maddening, as opposed to merely the former, is that it doesn't even feel like we're in a losing battle, somehow we're engaged in a battle where most alleged good guys don't seem to care or notice what's going on, so yeah, it keeps getting worse
What’s really depressing about how bad everything is right now is looking forward to how much worse it’ll be in a couple of years.

When you're trying to grieve but that corvid won't leave
Nevermoré
It will rap
Tippy tippy tap

Waking you from naps aaand
Your dream-a
Then will fly
Never tell you why
Even if you cry
