When I teach Vietnam, I explain that opposition to the war really grew in fits and starts. Some big rallies and visible protests, but also a steady stream of celebrities and ordinary folks breaking with their priors and taking a new stand.

This last month, this last week, feels like a real shift.

PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

The fact that most of what is happening is “care work”—skills like low dollar fundraising/aid, carpool mom, and generally looking out for your neighbor makes it anathema to charisma- / individual-driven spokespeople. Care work is pretty revolutionary, but no one is in charge.
The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

I remarked early into the afternoon to a woman standing behind a table covered in organized boxes of hand warmers and coffee and masks how impressively fast these things came together.

Now in the Standish Ericcson neighborhood of South Minneapolis, on 38th Street & 23rd Ave
Longtime #Dinkytown shop owner Greg Ketter is the 70yo you may have seen in a TV interview speaking his mind and walking away into a gas cloud. The September 1985 Southeast (Minneapolis) neighborhood newspaper noted his shop's move from above Gray's Drug to a street level entrance around the corner.

There are a lot of people asking if they should fly to Mn to "help". JFC NO.
Have you taken constitutional observer training? Have you set up rapid response/mutual aid networks in your own neighborhood? Do you know your neighbors' names? Do you know who will need food/supplies?

CRUCIALLY: this was all done with the direct and overt help of the MNGOP. This is an invasion facilitated by local conservatives for electoral leverage. Murder for votes.
I remain absolutely furious that all this shit in Minneapolis started because a barely-literate homeschooled mormon made a video trying to run up in daycare centers trying to find people of Somalian descent doing fraud despite the ringleader (a white woman) being in jail since March. Demonic.

/6 Watch, as this unfolds, two key things: (1) how blatantly the Gestapo will lie, and demand that you ignore what you can see plainly, and (2) how uselessly, how pathetically, how impotently the media will treat those lies and dither at this murder, craven publicists to evil.

I was marshaling for most of the time at the corner of 4th and 4th (street and avenue). I tried to estimate how many people were walking past. My ballpark was 300-500 people a minute. I was in that spot for two hours. That’s 35,000-60,000, not counting however many didn’t pass that intersection.
There were an estimated 50,000 people marching in the streets to support an economic shutdown, in temperatures so cold your tears freeze to your face and exposed skin is in danger of frostbite. That was preceded by pickets, civil disobedience, and arrests.
