Ah yes, the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. The incident where Justin Timberlake ripped a woman’s top off and everyone got mad at her for it. Nothing describes the US quite like a black woman being assaulted on live TV and blamed for the whole thing while her white assailant gets away with it.

When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means

Incidentally, a 44 to 47.5 percent cut to the length of the Washington Post's slogan would bring it precisely down to the two words "democracy dies."

MORE OF THIS PLEASE, says this New Jerseyan:
HOOOOOO boy.

Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.): "Do you consider yourself a religious man?"

Lyons: "Yes ma'am."

McIver: "How do you think Judgement Day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?"

"Do you think you're going to hell, Mr. Lyons?"

Since we're re-litigating Ring's sins: How did they grow so fast?

Until 2016, Ring gave out free/discounted cameras to police & giving cops perks if the public (including victims of crimes) used the officer's discount code to buy cameras--all of which meant Ring essentially made cops salespeople.

The thing is elite schools love to gloat about their "radical" past. They bragged at Cornell about the student takeover of the student union that established the African American studies program. They love that shit retrospectively
"But if the member presidents choose the guise of institutional neutrality as a way to gain political cover, they may now be leading higher ed toward greater authoritarianism."

Well the AAU is gonna love this (miniest of threads)

this was way more prevalent when i was still on tiktok but it feels like people are getting really weird about alcohol, coffee, anything that might make you happy--even in innocuous amounts! feels like we're re-engineering puritanism as a method of maintaining control (over ourselves, each other)
starting to feel like there's a direct relationship between the growing obsession with lifestyle hygeine (no drinking, no caffeine, no sex, obsessive working out and looksmaxxing) and the inability to meaningful moral stands on issues of actual import

Wear a mask! Ideally a well fitted respirator like an N95.

Covid is not over. The government pushed a “back to normal” agenda for the economy, not because it was safe.

They told us “only the vulnerable” needed to worry, but covid is a multi system vascular virus that is dangerous to everyone.

"Uh-oh—Romulans!" (Girls Town)

The "Nor-mal view!" chant (MST3K: The Movie)

"I just got outta the tube, man!" (same)

"Blood! Flesh! Entrails! The contents of a human spilled!" ("Snow Thrills")
Does anyone else have an MST3K line they use regularly, even if it makes no sense out of context?

Because I have both "That'll keep your panfish down for a while." and "Come come, boys, we must confound Jerry at every turn!" from MST3K the movie alone.

Analysis: Weeks before he set foot on the stage, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance had already become a media event.

But if you were looking for political commentary, the closest that you got was when he said “God bless America” in English.
Analysis | Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show was expected to provoke. Did it?
The Bad Bunny Super Bowl show nodded to injustices in Puerto Rico but mostly evoked wholesome family values that meshed with the more sentimental commercials.
