The organizer of the inaugural IndieChina Film Festival in New York said he was forced to cancel after facing a "relentless" pressure campaign, and that he may be unable to travel back to China.

just want to reiterate that the first amendment isn't something you "hide behind," it's something that constrains the government's ability to limit your inalienable rights. that distinction is very important

i reserve a special hatred for drivers who, upon seeing someone about to step into a crosswalk they're approaching, speed up instead of coming to the (legally required) stop. it's genuinely egregious behavior and you get the sense they don't even notice they're playing chicken with people's lives

In September 2024, the university informed Chinese state security that it would not be publishing a final phase of research on forced labour in China.
