Donald Trump is destined for the pits of hell where he will spend eternity drowning in a lake of searing hot human excrement and having his flesh and organs eternally devoured by hordes of writhing demonic maggots and worms.

Every day this fate creeps closer and closer.

I can't wait.

Over on the other place there's a lot of weird little guys who've spent the last week fixated on Eileen Gu, are now hailing Alysa Liu as the anti-Gu, and will turn on Liu immediately after she makes some vaguely political remarks at a press conference.

we must stop buying this idiotic American idea that the worst thing you can do to a white powerful man for committing horrible crimes against democracy is "losing your job and people saying mean things about you."

there are far worse things we can do to these criminals, and we should do them.

I have really come to believe that we'd be in a much better place right now if we had put Nixon away in a dingy cell for the rest of his natural life, instead of the slap on the wrist for being naughty that he actually received.

I've been saying it a lot, but these deaths line up with what happened in early concentration camps during other regimes: Deaths from poor conditions, disease, or abuse. These deaths are not accidental. They are the direct result of a camp system that is designed to harm those being imprisoned.
I received notification of yet another death at an ICE facility, meaning 38 people have died in custody since Trump returned to office.

ICE is failing to ensure the health and safety of the people it is responsible for.

We need immediate oversight of this entire operation.

"This bill also directs the Kansas DMV to revoke the driver's licenses of trans people,"

This is genocide.

And this too will be coming to a fascist state near you soon. 🤬
The Kansas legislature has overridden the veto and passed a bathroom ban with a bounty provision.

This bill also directs the Kansas DMV to revoke the driver's licenses of trans people, the first state to pass such a law.

One of the things that personally drives me crazy in the U.S. is how youth sports/athletic activities went from a part of the public good (municipal leagues and fields! rec centers! public parks!) to a privatized, expensive, highly competitive, highly structured pursuit for wealthy kids’ résumés
NBC ran a piece where Mary Carrillo went to Norway to find out why they're so good at the Winter Olympics and i was yelling BECAUSE IT'S COLD THERE

then she went to a little tiny ski jump for kids and was like "it's free, equipment is provided, & they don't emphasize results"

and i was like.

This is one of those things I could talk about for hours. The pay-to-play model of youth sports is a scourge. Rec leagues are dying because everyone thinks their kid is going to make it to The League, and there are plenty of "travel" teams willing to take their money and string them along

ACAB and all that, but until we reach a Star Trek utopia, bastards have their uses. Frankly, given how some upper-middle class people act, I expect some sort of official Big Guy or Gal with authority is going to be a necessary role for a long time.

I work with a lot of people who are unhoused or formerly imprisoned. 95% of them are fine. I support UBI, housing first, crisis teams, etc. None of that changes the fact that sometimes I need to call a cop to tell them to stop being assholes to other people or leave when we close.
