People who think some kind of real id or watermarking process is going to solve the bullshitification of everything on the Internet really need to take a harder look at how it has solved exactly zero percent of those problems in China

I am like five paragraphs into this and already it is b-o-n-k-e-r-s
My colleagues and I have been writing about the influence of the Chinese government in NYC politics, wielded through the hundreds of nonprofit heritage groups or “hometown associations” (同乡会) , many of which are openly pro-Beijing. After our last story in August, we got a crazy tip. (1/x)

Asking for a friend, is there some way we can fire an entire year directly into the sun?

Good riddance, 2025. Good luck, 2026.

People who do not live in Taiwan or do not follow this stuff for a living probably don't realize how crazy aggressive PRC rhetoric on Taiwan has become, particularly during military drills. It's one of a few indicators I'm watching with concern.
When China literally calls themselves the aggressors, it’s very important you listen.

Resistance to factory closures continues in China. These workers at a toy factory in Dongguan needed to fight for days, blockade a road, and their "victory" was getting half of what they were legally entitled to.

Breathtakingly direct racism, even by the standards of our fallen age
Fine: "I'm talking to my colleagues about whether we want these fake Somali refugees - who come to our country, add no value, suck our resources, defraud our govt - whether we actually want them here. I don't think Ilhan Omar shouldn't be a member of Congress - I think she shouldn't be an American"

This all begs the question, which is the wokest font?
Talk about conservativism being about stuck in the past--I'd take Calibri over Times New Roman any day.

Personally, I've been using TW Cen MT for years, but lately I'm liking Aptos.
At least while we are screwing over our allies around the world we will be doing it in an anti-woke font.

I've been investigating digital deception for ~15yrs and 2025 was the worst year.

VC-backed bot farms, endless AI slop, industrial level scams, abusive AI nudifiers, Meta paying $ for hoaxes... Deception was legitimized, monetized & shoved down the public’s throat:
