I don’t think many folks are aware of how bad it is for most Feds out there. Even for the most comfortable of us who have cushion it’s getting thin
I know everyone thinks all feds are like GS-15s in NoVa with a consultant spouse pulling down six figures, but in reality land shit is starting to Get Bad even for those of us with decent financial resources
Hell yeah

Pretty par for the course for Kerry.
In case you missed it, Kerry Brown wrote a book that plagiarized Shelley Rigger’s classic book title.

I, along with others who were asked to review Kerry’s manuscript, said verbatim to change the title.

In the most tacky and unprofessional fashion, he stole her title anyway.

He was running against another Democrat and still became the first NYC mayoral candidate to cross the million vote threshold since the 60s. We should all be so lucky to "underperform" so badly.
Btw, the press obsessing about Mamdani seems weird. He seriously underperformed the Democratic vote in NYC compared to recent elections, barely scraping 50%. Moderate Democrats in VA and NJ dramatically overperformed. That seems the real story

Let's not leave out the uni admin negotiating with a foreign intelligence service (without informing their national government) to protect their ability to enroll PRC nationals paying full tuition
This is a remarkable case of Chinese authorities threatening a UK university into halting research on human rights violations, and the university acquiescing.

President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

Today's niche China field gripe: It's the year of our lord 2025 and I'm still seeing purportedly serious China analysts write that CICIR is "associated" with the MSS, as if there is somehow something unclear about the relationship. CICIR *is* the MSS. It's literally an MSS bureau.
