We don't have a government. We have a bunch of guys who heard things on social media.
We don't have due process. We have entire groups being punished for the alleged actions of a few.
BREAKING

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

A bunch of people on here are like "I wanted to see the crypto bros suffer maximally!" And y'know what? I get that.

But luckily for all of us, the FDIC doesn't think that way. They think, "I want to see the minimum harm to US businesses and employees."

So they made the right calls that did that.

Normal people that don't like or care about crypto were able to keep their payrolls going, and didn't bank run.

Crypto lemmings chased Peter Thiel off a cliff, and ran on their own crypto banks, and more of them folded.🤷🏿‍♂️

We still have normal banks, and the pain was cauterized and contained.

The irony of the crypto community trying to tell people that you don't need FDIC insured deposits, when they don't even fully understand what the FDIC does, how it does it, or how valuable a service it provides.

But yeah, SVB failed, was acquired, but customers were protected.

Working as intended👍🏿

At the time, I laughed at all of the crypto bros claiming that they would lose all their deposits without presidential help.🤡

I said "These dudes don't even know how money works, and they have so much of it?"

I said that this bank collapse was vanilla for the FDIC: they'd handle it.

And they did.

Banks fail all the time. FDIC is *really* good at making sure that banking customers don't feel the pain from this.

Here's a list of bank failures. Note that 4 other banks failed in 2023. Most deposits were completely safe, even above FDIC maximum guarantee amounts.

This is what they do.

This list includes banks, which have failed since October 1, 2000.

You were an *investor or shareholder* in Silicon Valley Bank, you lost money when the bank failed, as you should.

If you were a *customer* of Silicon Valley Bank, and had a savings account or checking account or mortgage account with money in it? You didn't lose your money.

1. Silicon Valley Bank didn't get bailed out. It failed, and was acquired.

2. FDIC didn't do any special favors for SVB bankers, and didn't do it for silicon valley crypto bros. They did it to keep the promise that leads to stability: " When you put money in a US Bank, your deposits are safe."
Most underrated Biden admin mistake was bailing out Silicon Valley Bank.

SVB bet big on low interest rates and lost. Rich tech VCs who put too many eggs in that basket generated a bank run, then called for govt money.

Got their bailout, helped elect Trump, and now reaping rewards from corruption.

It isn’t much, but I’m grateful I’m able to contribute a small monthly amount on a recurring basis to support The Signal Foundation.

If you value Signal, you should be doing the same, if you’re able. Even just $5 a month can make a big difference.
It's been a big year at Signal. Thanks to you, more & more people are speaking privately and freely. Thanks to you, we hit the top of app stores in multiple countries & served as critical global comms infrastructure. It's an honor to build Signal for you, with your support. 🩵

Stop it.

If something in government is not working, then you fix it. Choose better leaders.

Don't replace its leader with an incompetent person, or worse, a dude that doesn't understand what it does, and so wants to destroy it.

Part of the reason we're in the mess we're in, is that too many of y'all believe the lies that government officials are less smart or less motivated, than the private sector.

That's complete nonsense.

What. No.
