Definitely a real person who was not retroactively created by a wish-granting engine. Star Trek, Battletech, general sci-fi, and TTRPG nerd. Jackal lurker.

There is a very good reason why the thing I say most consistently about situations like this is "the violent rhetoric policy is my least favorite policy to write and enforce, and the policy that creates the most upheaval among the userbase when it is applied"!
"bluesky will suspend you for anything vaguely resembling a death threat" is maybe the single most consistent moderation policy they have I don't know why anyone is surprised by this one

yes, even if it's a reference to song lyrics
The account owner of @sarahkendzior.bsky.social was suspended for 72 hours for expressing a desire to shoot the author of an article. The post, made 11/10, stated: "I want to shoot the author of this article just to watch him die." 1/2

Not to be a party pooper but Star Trek was one of the most expensive things on television in 1966!

Season 1 had a budget of $192,000 an episode, the equivalent purchasing power of just shy of *$2 million dollars* today!
"This episode is from the season where CBS gave them a budget of $29.99, inflation-adjusted."

people bitch about woke media but if TOS was on today they would go to a thinly-veiled MAGA planet where the locals worshipped guns and then kirk would hit the orange dictator with a two-fisted karate chop before giving a lecture about how science is real and violence is bad

one of the weirdest things that people believe on a website where the collective mood changes every thirty-six hours is that events completely unknown to 60% of the population, where 90% have the facts wrong, will have persistent effects eighteen months later

Big news! As we close in on the final chapters, I’m happy to report we have a front cover for the eventual pdf version.

Huge thanks to @steillustrates.bsky.social for his amazing job

Oh yeah, his whole deal since 2016 is that if the show doesn't look 100% like TOS then it must be an alternate universe. Basically everything except Picard, even where that show referenced stuff in DSC.
I’m guessing that Bernd Schneider is the reason all the modern Trek shows (aside from Picard) are all siloed into their own databases, any overlapping ships (even in Picard) are just “coincidences” according to EAS.

It’s absolutely pedantic and also the reason I mainly use Memory Alpha today.
Another view of the approval model.

Many fans were highly critical of the new "Akiraprise" design, none more so than Bernd Schneider of Ex Astris Scientia fame. /2

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

what he actually said was that mamdani doesn’t need his help and that he doesn’t live in new york but that he thought the race was very exciting and that cuomo disqualified himself, but, you know, hey, go ahead and make up people to get mad at if that makes your sunday morning more exciting
What nauseates about Mayor Pete is that he’s an Atlantic Monthly-reading retiree’s idea of what a young (ok, 43-yr-old) person should be like. Thank god for competitive primaries

The scariest thing in the universe isn't the Klingons, or the Dominion, or the Borg. It's Picard saying that you are a disgrace to the ideals of Starfleet and don't deserve to wear the uniform.

I would have died of shame on the spot.

i do think Dems should moderate on immigration in the sense that Dems should redesign our immigration policy to work like people think it works: you wait for a while (but not forever) to get into the country and then you wait for a while (but not forever) to become a citizen.
