the left did their part during Biden's presidency - they weren't the ones gumming up the works, everything that didn't pass was because of Manchin or Sinema

now, in the face of open fascism, a little party solidarity is the absolute least they should expect
the left very clearly views support for mamdani as a litmus test - does party loyalty run both ways?

Avoid the violence/nonviolence debate. It’s a trap.

The only thing that matters is what actions lead to more justice and less harm.

Inaction and complicity in the face of brutal oppression is the worst form of violence. Never forget it.

you have got to find a way to defend immigrants without assigning them "value."

it doesn't matter how much they "contribute" to the system, they have a right to be here. and let's be real: how people view immigration policy informs how they view disabled people and children.

My feeling is that anyone who thinks the protestors are protesting wrong should go down there and demonstrate the correct way to protest in person and see what the various juices pumping through your body tell you what to do when a man dressed in black plastic shoots a gas can into your abdomen

I think a huge error that's often made in analysis of trans men's political situation is framing it as "the intersection of hatred towards trans people and hatred towards men" rather than "the trans version of hatred towards potential usurpers of hegemonic manhood"

Where things stand: A federal judge, U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy, found that the Trump administration has violated a court order.

Any question about contempt will come later. His primary concern today is remedying this. That will include a clarification of his preliminary injunction and more.
Murphy has made clear that the Trump administration violated his order as to Tuesday's flight. The only question now is remedy, and that is what we are waiting on — word from DOJ on whether the Trump admin thinks it could carry out credible fear interviews on the plane.

🚨Reports around the country today that some people who showed up for their immigration court hearings were told that ICE prosecutors had dismissed their cases — and then were arrested moments later by ICE officers and taken to detention centers for unknown reasons. Happening in multiple cities.
Immigration court has always been the one place I could tell people they could feel safe from ICE enforcement... until today.

I have one trusted report of FIFTY ICE officers swarming a CA immigration court. This hasn't hit media yet but advocates have been hearing reports from around the country.

Microsoft kinda-sorta got there for me earlier: I just cancelled my Office365 contract, their push to insert CoPilot into everything is, well, I'm trad-published and my contracts warrant that my books are entirely my own work, and the LLM in the word processor could call my bona fides into question.
Ah, brilliant. Google has designed a product that will basically make it illegal to use if ever you are in any space where you work with, discuss, or interact with PII or PHI.

That shall go well.

The sheer abject cruelty of this is soul crushing. We can feed everyone. We really can. We choose not to. And we'll never properly be able to make amends for this.
As Israel starves Gaza via blockade, food that could feed 3.5 million people for a month sits unused and rotting due to Trump slashing USAID funds and programs.

The food was intended for emergency distribution in famine-stricken areas including Gaza and Sudan.
