My Sunday reminders of good this week:
the satisfaction of completing to-do lists, cooking family recipes for friends, yoga that eases pain, baking homemade soft pretzels, paid time off, fireside chats with friends, wandering art galleries & quirky used bookstores, fog at dusk

Masking in public isn’t a “personal risk” decision. It’s a “risking people” decision.
An n95 isn’t like a seatbelt you can refuse if you think accident rates are low & you’d survive.
Rejecting public masking is like drunk driving on shared roads while hospital access is expensive & inequitable.

I went for a run, did two loads of laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, and deep cleaned the kitchen including scrubbing the floor, and disinfected all surfaces including fridge interior. It’s only 10 AM.
That extra hour of sleep from DST makes a big difference. For now. The shine’s gonna wear off. 😭

I am sure others have said this already re: the SNAP nightmare, but I haven't seen it. It's called no-school-November — end of quarter, Veteran's Day, usually conferences, & Thanksgiving. So school as an emergency source of food is less so during this month. We have got to shore up the alternatives.

It's embarassing to see someone with a PhD and years if experience use AI to make a presentation on something they are an expert on, and then tell you to ignore some parts of diagrams because the AI made them up and those bits are wrong.
That's embarrassing for us both.

Many things are being destroyed & the news of it is a psychological & political onslaught.
So it’s important that you create things.
It can be art, cookies, a community pantry, a garden, a mask bloc. It can be beautiful, practical, silly. Just create & share.
It’ll do your brain & the world good.

this post is factually incorrect. the imminent SNAP disaster is not due to the government shutdown. it is the result of trump illegally withholding contingency funds appropriated by congress. it is not a matter of interpretation.
One food bank meal is equal to approximately nine meals provided by SNAP — but many food banks are bracing for a surge in demand if millions don’t receive benefits in November due to the government shutdown.
Food banks brace as people face federal aid stoppage: ‘We cannot meet the gap’
Already strained by federal funding cuts earlier in the year and a surge in demand from furloughed federal workers, food banks face a fresh wave of need as SNAP benefits end Saturday.
