Ableism teaches us to abandon each other.

Racism will disable you.
Transphobia will disable you.
Long COVID will disable you.
Genocide will disable you.
Climate change will disable you.

Do not obey when told to abandon the vulnerable.

Resistance & communities must be rooted in disability justice.

My Sunday reminders of good this week:

moon gazing, deliveries of n95s, inventive homemade cookies, snowy walks in the woods, access to audiobooks from the library, making art & not caring about quality, soup on cold days, rapid-response protests, falling asleep while cuddling

More good will come.

All meaningful forms of resistance boil down to radical love of self and others, even when it’s inconvenient, and stubborn belief that change is possible, even when systems loom large and powerful.

Don’t let the bastards convince you otherwise.

2025 was mostly garbage, but there were some good moments.

One of my favorites was when a family of beavers built a dam in just a few days, saving the Czech Republic 30 million Czech koruna (US$1.2 million) for a wetland restoration project the government had been planning for 7 years. 🦫 🌿
These eager beavers saved the Czech government $1.2 million
After plans stalled for a new dam in the Czech Republic, eight beavers saved the day seemingly overnight. “At this point, nothing that beavers do surprises me.”

A really sad follow-up to this story — Alexis Erlinmeyer, one of the trans federal intelligence workers who was fired, has died of a pulmonary embolism. She was 31. Her family is burying her under her deadname, so friends are fundraising for an accurate memorial: www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-...
NEW—In late Feb, Chris Rufo published leaked chats between queer/trans employees at US intel agencies. Then Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said she’d fire all involved.

I spoke to chat members who were fired, are on admin leave, and who kept their jobs about the new lavender scare:
Queer intel officers targeted by top secret chat leak get their chance to speak
Chris Rufo published the chats. Staffers say a new "lavender scare" is upon us.

Hey, you know how these wealthy fascists don’t care who dies for their access to oil in Venezuela since they only care about short-term profit & not long-term outcomes for the human population or planet?

They feel the same way re COVID, flu, & healthcare in general.

A n95 in public is resistance.

Sanction us. Bar entry with US passports. Upper middle class Americans are so used to being isolated from politics having any impact in their actual lives that canceling their European vacations en masse might actually stop this.

Those especially harmed by unmitigated illness include people who are BIPOC, trans, queer, disabled, immigrants, children, elderly, women, and/or poor.

Those who benefit from illness harming the aforementioned: fascists, colonizers, the ultra wealthy, bigots.

Refuse to be weaponized. Mask up.

Masking in public isn’t a “personal risk” decision. It’s a “risking people” decision.

An n95 isn’t like a seatbelt you can refuse if you think accident rates are low & you’d survive.

Rejecting public masking is like drunk driving on shared roads while hospital access is expensive & inequitable.

[screaming at the top of my lungs, once again] the fundamental technology of humanity is care
We didn't survive and thrive as a species because we had warriors or hunters - pretty much every omnivore can manage that.

We did so because we developed Grandmothers, and domesticated Dogs.

Community is what defines us as a species, and every "self-reliant" libertarian shitweasel be damned.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I feel a special kind of sorrow and anger about events and communities that claim to be about liberation—queer, trans, BIPOC, disabled, etc—and yet don’t require n95s, implement clean air practices, etc.

I dream of a world in which the guiding principle of “we keep each other safe” is true.
