None of these Republicans and most of these Democrats are not all of a sudden “seeing the light on ICE.” They simply understand the worm turning on public opinion and saving face. They will ALL go back to voting for minority brutalization as soon as they can. You can’t keep falling for this.

this is a really interesting point and i've been thinking along similar lines. the reaction to renee's murder was explosive, but the reaction to alex's murder feels like more of a turning point.
as a lesbian activist & proud race traitor, I'll say it: Alex Pretti was the hero we needed to lay his life down for freedom, because the people who weren't already aware of the stakes didn't see themselves in Renee Macklin Good (ask me how I know)

just gonna throw out a quick reminder that in America police kill a yearly average of 3 civilians per day, routinely in situations very similar to these ICE killings, and decades of explicit support for police impunity by US politicians is why ICE feels theyre able to get away with this right now

Look, I believe in casts, but if a parent has strongly-held anti-cast beliefs, they should be allowed to let their kid’s broken arm grow back all floppy and fucked up, even to the point of lifelong, debilitating pain. And that’s not child abuse because a kid’s bones are their parents’ property

What all this self-pitying sludge about ICE agents feeling depressed and scared is forcing into our collective forebrain is the knowledge that our culture has placed a premium not just on creating classes of men who kill and torture at will, but on forcing the rest of us to love them at gunpoint.
