to be a bit more clear-eyed, if Senate Democrats cave and agree to fund ICE & the government now then there is no line that could be crossed that would ever cause them not to
Sonali Kohlatkar: "Senators who believe in compassion and human rights have a unique opportunity to pull back the powers of ICE by refusing to back an appropriations bill passed by the House of Representatives." inthesetimes.com/article/demo...
There’s Never Been a More Fitting Time for Democrats to Stop Funding ICE
The money fueling ICE’s abuses comes directly out of the pockets of working Americans who are already struggling.

I say *pretend* and *claim* because the last 10yrs since then should clarify that this was never what any of them wanted. They want the IRI gone. Obama undermined this by understanding that it wasn't really in the interests of the US to repeat Iraq. A lot of these people want to try Iraq again.

Obama secured a deal over the objections of the entire Republican Party and a significant part of his own Democratic Party, including the objections of the man who is currently Senate Minority Leader, and then it was immediately torn up. But again: the deal did exactly what they claim they want.

It's really important for people to internalize that, in the eyes of Washington DC's foreign policy establishment, the biggest sin of the Obama presidency was concluding a deal with Iran that objectively satisfied the demands that Washington DC pretends to believe in.

NEW: since last year, a pair of "highly trained" feds have been involved in an array of incidents attacking crowds with chemical weapons.

We used public records and open source analysis to identify Edgar Vazquez and Michael Sveum, alongside some other members of their tactical team.

The only solution is law and government; they know this and it is why they work so hard to make government weak and staff it with incompetent stooges like Trump. They will do anything to avoid actually being accountable for themselves, including destroying the entire country that built them.

Money insulates, our economy makes vast wealth self-sustaining. No amount of failure, incompetence, or even criminality will harm them. Tesla as a company is cratering, and yet the stock price rises, simply by virtue of billiomaire co-investors wanting to keep it high.

Democrats might want to think about how to have court orders enforced against the lawless Trump regime at some point before they start openly stealing elections so Democrats cant get elected anymore bc voters of color are being harassed at the polls
This is magical thinking. Like you shouldn’t feel comfortable saying something this naive. “Actually I think voter suppression will help us” okay. That’s fucking stupid and you should feel ashamed saying it

ive stopped paying attention to this stuff and all the liberals calling it "brutal" and "devastating news for ICE" bc they've been ignoring court orders for a full year and no one has enforced them punitively to date. It's a fairy tale land like imagining Mueller was gonna save the republic.
A Federal judge in Oregon ruled that ICE can NOT use chemicals on protestors for exercising their 1st amendment rights.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

3-letter agencies have tried a number of ways to "brainwash" people & the best methods found involved indoctrinating children w/ propaganda while also simultaneously traumatizing them.

When you understand that, the reason the right cares so much about schools but not school shootings becomes clear.

I've been seeing more comments about ICE terrorism from people from other countries who are like: I thought Americans were supposed to have guns? In my country people would have already stormed government buildings unarmed when they started murdering civilians

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.
