Hey, SABR hasn't put both its feet into bluesky yet (I know, a lot of its people have) but this is a good time to remind you that the SABR Analytics Conference Research Awards are open for nominations.

When you have a few minutes, please nominate some of your favorite baseball research from 2025.

Spike Lee just blessed Pope Leo with a custom Knicks jersey during his visit to the Vatican, just one week after the Pope was gifted a custom Chicago Bulls one.

There were a lot of great moments from tonight but the best by far was Miz hanging out well after the allotted time for the event was over and ripping cards with a kid wearing his jersey. They even pulled a Miz!

DePodesta is, undeniably, a trailblazer directly responsible for the modern executive. He has a whale of a challenge in front of him—modernizing that Rockies organization; solving Coors Field; and so on. Tall task for anyone, let alone somebody nearly a decade removed from an MLB front office.

I don't think it's even right to say the voting public doesn't care. I think the truth is a lot of voters may generally find trans identity moderately confusing but also *none of their business*.

on the other hand, they find an obsession with harming trans people - say it with me - deeply weird.
Spanberger’s GOP foe spent 57% of her ad budget on anti-trans attacks. Spanberger focused on the economy. You see what won. trib.al/fkMmsR4

The simple truth told time and time again in the polls: The public doesn’t care about trans issues. Voters care deeply about the economy, inflation, & prices.

Ellis is done. The preliminary injunction has been entered.

Ellis grants plaintiff's request to certify the lawsuit as a class action, which means it applies to more than just the named plaintiffs and includes all nonviolent protestors as well as those engaged in news gathering & religious practice

In that piece, I used the newly fleshed-out arsenal metrics at @baseballprospectus.com to show why #Cubs clearly feel Brad Keller's great year was more repeatable than Kittredge's. Also dug into those to explain the Imanaga Saga, at BP itself today. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

WOW. A federal judge says he's going to issue a Temporary Restraining Order requiring ICE to make changes at the Broadview facility in Chicago, a facility that until January was only for stays under 12 hours "absent exceptional circumstances," but has become, in Judge Gettleman's words, "a prison."
U.S. Robert Gettleman is now giving his thoughts. He says, "I think the evidence has been pretty strong that this facility is no longer just a temporary holding facility. …

"It has really become a prison."
DOJ's Jana Brady steps up next but says she'll largely "rest on our brief that we filed."

She wants any TRO to not "interfere with the executive branch."
