We have published the following update to our article following an email response from the New York Times.

Trans News Network has a policy against platforming bigotry. As such, we have declined to publish the Times' statement which included blatant transphobia.

this has the ring of cold truth amid the hot fog of admin spin
WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

In a study following 23 million people age 18-59 (pretty young) for 4 years…despite the fact that the ones who got the COVID vaccine were overall older and sicker at baseline, they not only had 74% lower risk of dying from COVID than the unvaccinated but 25% lower risk of dying from any other cause!

Also if you're saying Trump is doing this because he's taking orders/a puppet please rethink that. US aggression to Venezuela is decades old. Trump is doing this with other Americans. Thousands of military members carried out the orders. This is a fully American action.

You couldn't publish this today. You'd have to cloak it under several layers of metaphor.

nothing infuriates the average paid political commentator more than the fact that every 15 year old baby leftist doing earnestly naive posts about 'Amerikkka' at any point in the last 30 years has better analysis with a sounder grounding in the facts than they do.

wow, everything I see here is unfolding almost exactly the way it would if the people I have spent my career disagreeing with about everything were right about everything (even though, obviously, they are still wrong about everything)
Incredibly funny that this is the closest Matty Yglesias will ever get to admitting he was wrong about American empire. “Looks like that leftist was right. Like a fucking IDIOT”

Yeah he had no idea he was supposed to be running Venezuela until Trump said it in the press conference.
WELKER: Mr. Secretary, are you running Venezuela right now?

MARCO RUBIO: Yeah. People are fixating on that. Here's the bottom line -- we expect to see changes in Venezuela

Just saying that tonight I was invited to the @startribune.com annual fundraiser and I’m really grateful they’ve signed me up to write through the year. I hope you’ll consider subscribing. That’s my contribution to fundraising, which I am generally bad at.
You've probably been following the story about fraud in MN. I wrote about the people who provide services who are being driven into bankruptcy, thanks to the Walz' administration decision to hire Optum AI to screen all payments. It's a disaster.
Perry: Trusted providers are being unfairly swept up in Minnesota’s fraud crackdown
As the state's new anti-fraud screening system went into effect, the Holland Center expected to receive $212,000 in payments. It instead received $22,000, David M. Perry writes. If nothing changes soo...

You can’t report illegal acts because you don’t want to compromise them being carried out is an interesting take, if true
NYT, WaPo learned of the secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin but held off publishing what they had at the administration's request to avoid endangering US troops

personally I think if a story about an illegal war and kidnapping leaks to you should publish it.

You ever think about how the Roman Senate kept meeting centuries into the reigns of emperors. Hanging out, shooting the shit, giving speeches, and play-acting that their positions of privilege remained positions of power.

So much of American history is just impulsive and extremely stupid elites, who don't believe in consequences because they have never personally experienced them, doing highly consequential stuff because they're bored or believe it might make them richer. I guess a lot of our culture, too.

Thank goodness none of this kind of thing has become a fixture in the war in the Donbas
“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.
