Actual elected Republicans are abandoning Trump and treating him like a lame duck before the political media is.
When a president tries to change a democracy into an authoritarian regime, it's an inherently precarious position.

Trump has been acting as if he had consolidated a hybrid regime, but the truth of the matter is that he hasn't. Now that Republicans smell weakness, they're openly opposing him.
Rep. Mike Turner on the double strike to comply with Hegseth's orders: "If that occurred, that would be very serious and I agree that would be an illegal act…This is completely outside of anything that has been discussed with Congress and there is an ongoing investigation."

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Part of why Trump won in 2016 was he was an "outsider" who promised to "end corruption." He did not end corruption, he is a big "to the victor belongs the spoils of the enemy" guy. He's a spoiled and corrupt person, who has spoiled and corrupted his party and government. That story sells itself.
The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

"we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it."
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

It's budget time so at the end of our interview w/ Mayor Bachynski, we gave him a printed poster of the image below. It's the density vs services vs taxes venn diagram that @brenttoderian.bsky.social often shares around. It includes Regina-related explanatory notes. #yqrcc

It’s infuriating to me that I need to evaluate media to determine whether it’s AI generated now. The great “time saver” technology wastes incalculable time and energy for people who want to retain their grasp on reality

This is an extremely charming movie that’s a visual wonder, but sadly out of print in the U.S. hoping for Discotek or GKIDS to rerelease this one.

I really adored the visual design of the human characters and the lush environments. Brings a lot of atmosphere to this film’s world.

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."

So cynical how AI music corps are using accessibility in their marketing language, just as streaming platforms use democratization. These corporations are stripping music of value and musicians of our livelihood. Financialization is not punk rock
All AI music does is devalue the work done by human artists. It’s not accessibility, it’s exploitation. We need real protections for artists against AI!

BTW — even if you had access to this AI startup as a child, you still wouldn’t know how to make music.

I've been staring at this for a while now, and the only way to make sense of it is that this guy went into a diabetic coma, was rushed to the hospital, had his foot removed, and now is getting presented with the gift of a singular sock. Oh yeah, this is from an Amazon listing for thick wool socks.
