The review of Lux by @jawnita.bsky.social goes for the rafters itself, fantastic read
Rosalía is going for the rafters, as though she went to confession and her penance was to spend it in the dusty library of Gaudí’s Basílica de la Sagrada Família, paging through ancient texts as God peered at her soul through a portal on a stone spire
Rosalía's Orchestral Benediction
Plus: a must-hear album from a virtuosic avant-rock quartet, the fiery return of an essential Chicago rap collective, and more.

Sony Music’s parent corporation has published its financial results for the third quarter of 2025 (its fiscal Q2) including its music division. The key figures there include 21% growth in revenues to ¥542bn ($3.51bn) driven by higher streaming revenue for both recorded music and publishing. However, the ‘music’ figures also include ¥106bn of revenues from Sony’s ‘Visual Media & Platform’ business – animation and mobile games.

I’m not sure if the microwaved grilled cheese on Amtrak regional trains is food exactly, but the combination with a cup of hot coffee makes me feel like Peter Falk in Wings of Desire

Ok in trying to straighten out what happened to my health plan I learned that on Oct 8 the federal govt screwed up the MA health connector subscriber database with an update intended to cross-reference it with immigration info in order to deny immigrants - legal immigrants - health care subsidies
what I'm greeted with morning after a people's victory is my health insurance has been terminated due to information "from some federal agency"... god knows what that means but my hunch is it's simply fascists randomly breaking things for the rest of us to clean up...if you need me I'll be on hold

the worst part of this would be concluding running for major political office is a more level playing field than trying to get someone to write about your demo

Finally an explanation: apparently there was a system software update on Oct 8 which gave our household a dependent named Teri, which obv changed our eligibility and booted us off our health plan. But I don’t know a Teri, I said. It’s the software and there’s nothing I can do about it, they said…

Why Sound Matters (Why X Matters Series)
A poignant consideration of the material aspect of sound and how it fundamentally shapes our experience of the world, both in its presence and absence From the joyous communal connections fostered through shared auditory experience to the devastating impact of noise pollution in the deep sea, musician and author Damon Krukowski urges readers to reconsider the significance of sound and its role in both our personal and collective well-being. He looks despairingly at how the multipronged efforts of urban dwellers to mitigate city noise have led to increased isolation, loss of community, and a sense of physical detachment from one’s surroundings. He considers the consequences of the commodification of sound in the digital era. And he looks at what’s at stake in trying to preserve the world’s dwindling quiet places. Interspersed with personal reflections from years of working in the music business, this book investigates sound’s role in the environment, its value as a material, its relationship to labor, and how it affects our interactions with one another. Krukowski invites you to hear the world anew and renew your relationship with one of our most precious natural resources. So listen up!
