you know what, let me log off and make something.
Another resistance quilt finished this week. The eye is my own design, the letters are a fpp pattern by QuiltByNight, the rounded corners and black binding are meant to resemble the phones we the people are using to document the horrors and disprove the government’s lies about what they are doing.

okay, I’m sad and tired but there is a lane I can drive in.

if you are 1) in charge of people at work and 2) trying to figure out how to get them through “can you fucking believe we have to do our little emails in February 2026,” I wrote a thing for you.

dear every elected official of every party: if you are more afraid of seeming like a radical by abolishing ICE than you are of ICE’s explicit plans to pack all these warehouses full of the people they kidnap, I don’t know what to say to you at this point.
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

me today, counting on my fingers: ok, the vegan curried squash soup goes first, then chicken broth, then tomorrow we do the green chile chicken noodle

good work, team
And Maggie Nelson moves on to the next round!!!!
Nelson is the kind of writer who could make any topic interesting, but this subject perfectly showcases her talents. In this short, gorgeous prose poem, medical appointments are interspersed with dreams, grief, COVID-era alienation, and a strained marriage. Funny yet harrowing.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

one day I will figure out how to take a day off without being on a train all day. that day is not tomorrow but it doesn’t need to be.

the yellow spine theme is either a coincidence or a message from me to me that I don’t understand.
