Elder advocate for the beautiful world I inherited but fear my great grandchildren will never get to see the beauty - all burned up and polluted with single-use plastics. Environmental degredation makes me so sad. But I love to grow food and flowers.
@NCC OTTAWA re canal. Beautiful job on the skating surface but sides where walkers and others go is hard to travel on. Similatly the sidewalk west side adjacent to canal is really hard to walk on, push a carriage or walking aide and probably impossible to drive a wheelchair along. challenged..help!

I left Twitter the day of the "Salute." I had over 40K followers. I lost a pretty big platform to promote my trainings and advocacy work.

But you could not pay me to go back there.

Brands and governments who still use it should be loudly and persistently shamed for it.
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

“When performance is bad, you just change the formula and go to the government for [a] bailout, and this is the way when it comes to corporate pay.”

Bailouts for big business CEOs, but "sacrifice" demanded from the average Canadian. Anyone else getting REALLY fed up with the way things work? 😠

Frig, this guy is inspiring.
Mamdani: I have been told that this is the occasion to reset expectations, that I should use this opportunity to encourage the people of New York to ask for little and expect even less. I will do no such thing. The only expectation I seek to reset is that of small expectations.

Yep OC Transpo has now made driving faster, more reliable and now cheaper than transit! With an EV it is way cheaper than transit.

The scary thing is that this pipe is only from 1959 and failed prematurely, a growing trend. There are still pipes downtown from the 1870s to be replaced. We currently replace about 20km of pipe each year, but we laid down 1800km of pipe in the 50s and 60s. 5X our current replacement rate.

I’m very sympathetic for the residents in my colleague’s ward. River Ward has experienced a lot of water main breaks since the Fall, as has my own ward (Knoxdale-Merivale). There’s a lot of aging infrastructure in our wards, much of it overdue for replacement.

Today Ottawa transit fees increased yet again. An adult fare is now $4.10. In 1980 it was $0.60, or $2.60 adjusted for inflation. How can the city justify charging a $1.50 premium while service worsens? Ottawa is going the wrong way. #ottcity #octranspo

We're unfortunately in for a looooot of these unless we manage to get our city finances in order.

Building more efficiently will help ensure the infrastructure we have is kept in good condition, helping our citizens avoid disasters like these!

You can still get your flu shot, Ottawa. It's still early in the flu season and that spike is already bonkers. Even with a "mismatch", my understanding is the available shot still does a good job of keeping you off a ventilator and out of the hospital if you do get infected.
If you thought that was bad, the next update was even worse...

This was our experience in December - four of us went to NAC for a show. Cost of OC Transpo: $32.00. Cost of parking at City Hall: $2.
Family of 4 headed downtown on a Sunday for some wandering, shopping and exploration: $16.40 each way, $32.80 round trip. Parking for 2h $6

And we wonder why ppl drive.

Hivemind, I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to do BookVault and offer paperbacks via my own author shop. Am considering doing them as special "Canadian" editions that would restore the original Canadian spelling and measurements, with different covers.

Really dumb idea or a really good idea?
