Elder advocate for the beautiful world I inherited but fear my great grandchildren will never get to see the beauty - all burned up and polluted with single-use plastics. Environmental degredation makes me so sad. But I love to grow food and flowers.

That is a good summary of just some of the ways Doug Ford is making life worse in Ontario. Now we just need to replace him with someone better. I keep voting against him, but the latest Abacus poll puts him 28 points ahead, so a lot of people seem to love him:

This came to me as a surprising fact, but most councilors know this.

To win an election, it's not exactly to be well liked or effective, it's just to get the 60%+ that don't vote to show up to the polls.

At 2/3's, you dominate any opposition even if a hundred percent of their people show up.
According to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, the average voter turnout among 417 municipalities in the province in 2022 was 33 per cent.

Two thirds of voters didn’t show up for their local elections.

Nicely said. Opener, points, conclusion.

TLDR: We really need a province that doesn't suck. We're living through a wasted decade of progress.

I miss being able to do speeches, but at least I can still skeet (that's what the kids are calling it right 😂)
Bill 60 will make our roads more dangerous for everyone.

Thank you to Bike Ottawa for inviting me to speak at your rally this morning — keep the pressure on the provincial government and tell them to stop interfering in the work cities are doing to make life better and safer for people.

But don't worry, bike lanes are the issue when it comes to traffic safety 🤔

My winter cycling enthusiasm has a lot to do with being unenthusiastic about taking an hour to get home on the bus or crawling along in gridlock in the car. The bike is just better for me even when -- especially when -- the weather is shitty.

2035?? That's 10 years away! This city is not serious.
Look at all the development down Carling Ave. It is all growing housing density awaiting decent transit.
The 2026 draft Ottawa budget announces further delays to the Carling bus lane project, estimating the completion time for a bus lane project at 2035. This project was started in 2016 with designs released in 2017, which would make this be a 19 year long project just to install interim bus lanes.

This departure raises serious questions, yet Plamondon still refuses to speak with the media. Our community deserves transparency.

We're at 82% or so vaccination rate and declining.

Disinformation generates profit, but more importantly, it disrupts and strains government, allows radicalization, wastes money and ultimately kills people.

Our enemies exploit this. Countering this will be a critical fight going forward.
