Some sad news for #skating on the #RideauCanal in Ottawa. In the past the #NCC had set up three webcams that gave skaters views of the snow cover, ice conditions, crowds, weather and other useful info to plan slating. This year the webcams are missing, so I wrote to ask if they were coming back:
Hello Adam, Thank you for contacting the National Capital Commission (NCC). We no longer have operational requirements for the use of live cameras on the Rideau Canal Skateway. For this reason, the webcam live updates will not be offered as of the 2025-2026 season. The #RideauCanal skateway in #Ottawa fully opened this morning at 0800 hrs, but take note, the southern sections are are rated "poor" and "fair" which is not good for #skating on!
