Now is not a time for calm. Now is a time for doomscrolling endlessly until you are sucked into a radicalization channel and properly activated for whatever purpose you've been conditioned to undertake. Let's hope it's the right one!

Batboy wasn’t real!?!?
When Weekly World News stories about a half-boy, half-bat lined supermarket checkout lanes in the 1990s, most consumers — including Probe Research partner Curtis Brown — could readily, easily and confidently identify the eye-grabbing tabloid reports as false.

The Google AI overview hallucinated a whole stop on the O-Train Line 1 east extension the last time I used it (Lafleur) and called Jeanne d’Arc “Jean Dark”.

Trying it again it seems to have lost “Lafleur Station” but is calling Place d’Orléans “Plasan”.

Do you think someone rushed to make the first “who is here in 2026” comment? Like some guy in New Zealand all smug that no one else was yet.

Grok can't apologize. Grok can, when prompted, generate a word sequence that is statistically similar to the colloquial phrases we think of as "apologies," but Grok cannot actually apologize because Grok isn't sentient. But we all have a lot of trouble with this because we assume sentience IS speech

Last night I dreamt I had a great web story but I agonized over the photo choice. Like, full on, realistic images of the photo system, going through searching for the correct one and then second- and third-guessing which picture to use before hitting publish.

Sometimes my wife would catch me looking off into the distance and say, "Is everything okay? Are you worried about something?" and I'll say, "It's fine, I'm just trying to figure out how to word this joke I want to make on the internet," and she scoffs and goes back to Animal Crossing.
sometimes I’ll make a joke to my wife and she’ll roll her eyes and ask if I’m “gonna post that one on bluesky.” I mean, yes, but her tone is very hurtful
