After a string of ICE murders, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries proposed reforms — and $11 billion more for ICE.

Including reconciliation bill funding, the Schumer-Jeffries plan would give ICE a $30 billion budget, higher than all but 15 militaries worldwide:

there has been a repeated and calculated effort to not only go after Black activists and journalists but also to go to extreme lengths to try to rob them of their dignity and create racialized propaganda. this is vile, vicious stuff and it needs to be called out directly
Civil rights lawyer Nekima Levy Armstrong's latest brief reveals the backstory of her arrest in a footnote. Feds refused to let her self-surrender, taped her arrest at a hotel, and broke a promise not to post it on social media, she says.

The White House then digitally altered it to smear her.

Here is a little story from the World of Tech.

It's 2018; I'm working at a well-funded but not hockey-sticking startup. Execs liked to bring in company alums to give talks on what they've done since, how to grow your career, etc.

One is with the former Head of Marketing, so they ask me to Q&A. 1/

You know what they’re going to store in those warehouses?

People
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

The alternative for a lost dog is a microchip.
The alternative for footage of your property is offline cameras.
The alternative for alerting someone expecting you is texting.
The alternative to unknown knocking is a window or peephole.
All of these are decades old.
i'm baffled by all the people in the replies to posts about the spy doorbells asking for alternatives. like... the alternative is a regualr fucking doorbell with no camera in it. or a door knocker. get you a weird gargoyle guy! you dont need a camera!

It feels worth saying that the thing that unifies men as disparate as Noam Chomsky, Deepak Chopra and Trump is patriarchy. Patriarchy, hatred of women, and the need to dominate them, persists across race and class status. Left movements refuse a robust analysis of persisting gender violence.

Yes and plenty of pedophiles or just general rapists are never held accountable even with a lot lower net worth.

We shouldn't have billionaires. And we should hold sex offenders accountable.
Great argument against having billionaires. Most of them seem to end up being pedos and exploiting kids, and because of their wealth and connections, are never held accountable

Tax the shit out of them so they never get this much money or power to begin with
