A line of people outside Senate offices, each with a printout of their healthcare premiums in 2025 vs 2026. Just walking into the office, giving name and zip code, and silently showing the sheet. Over and over and over, like the horror movie that our health system and political system, is.

Play a little game: every time Schumer skeets or tweets like he's supposedly against the Republican bill, which Schumer helped move forward, put a little money toward a lefty primary Senate challenger. Retweet/reskeet their name with support.
I will not support the Republican bill that’s on the Senate floor because it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s healthcare crisis.

PSA: The Democratic Socialists of America is a political organization, not a political party. Because of our two-party system, DSA often supports certain Democratic Party candidates but does not require members to be registered with any party.
Working Families Party is a different political party.

I think a lot of the anger this morning stems from a feeling that we did our part, but they did not do theirs. This is an oversimplification, but my dudes, no wonder people are like, “OK, let’s try the democratic socialist, then.”

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.
Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

what’s remarkable about this is that there are zero winners at all, one of the biggest lose-lose deals I can remember
the Dem cavers will catch incandescent shit for it
the rest of the Dems will catch collateral fury
the big R win is… jacking everyone’s health care costs ahead of midterms

People think the Republican Party is a bunch of greedy, evil, grifty assholes, and they are correct. But Dems spent lots of time assuring us they were different, and folks stepped up on Tuesday, so this betrayal feels worse than the stuff Republicans are doing to destroy our country.

okay, so, with Dems successfully keeping anyone up in 2026 for voting for this turd let's take a look at who's up in 2026 anyway:
1. Cory Booker - apparently involved behind the scenes, constantly looking for bipartisanship. I don't dislike him personally but he doesn't have what we need. Primary.

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)
They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

Not a single senate Democrat should be politically safe from this day forward. Not one
Blame *all* Democratic incumbents for this surrender. Not just the ones voting for it. The others could have voted to remove Schumer long ago and install a leader capable of formulating a strategy and holding his people together. They were content to stay with a proven loser.
I will not support a deal that does nothing to make health care more affordable.
We are in a health care emergency. A simple one-year extension of these tax credits would cost less than Donald Trump’s $40 billion bailout for Argentina.
A vote for this bill is a mistake.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.
