Statement Re: OU Discrimination Investigation

Today, my client, Mel Curth, submitted her appeal of the University's Institutional Equity Office finding that she engaged in arbitrary and capricious grading of a student's assignment in violation of that student's religious liberty.

It’s wild we’re still talking about masks. I still mask up in grocery stores, elevators, public bathrooms, and public transit cuz I don’t like being sick and I don’t want to get my kid sick and it doesn’t have to be more complicated than not liking being sick. It’s weird anyone would question that.

i think one of the bigger causes of Poster's Madness is that if you read your notifications preferentially to other feeds, the more replies/QTs your posts get the greater percentage of your total post intake is your own notifications
What feed do you look at most on here?

For all that people talk about wanting to avoid algorithmically-curated feeds, the (pareto) pattern of engagement I see seems to bely that.

My hunch is that most people spend most of their time on feeds like Popular With Friends or Discover.

By any reasonable historical standard — including that of the technology industry! — ChatGPT should be pulled from the market and its product managers and executives held accountable for creating a product that ROUTINELY tells teens to kill themselves. This is a basic, common sense standard.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

I think a lot of people have this mindset of “well my politics are very clearly correct so me being a jerk all the time reads as this cool little flourish” when in reality that flourish actually makes you look kinda stupid and makes the uninitiated question those politics to begin with

"1918 Flu was a lab leak" is an astonishingly stupid take.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

when I was a teen foster kid what made all the difference for me was a youth drop in centre where I was connected to other kids, safe adults and opportunities for learning and growth.

It would take the tinest fraction of money being spent to accelerate forced adoption of AI to offer this to kids
the only options available aren't either "4chan/predatory chat rooms" or AI "companions".

we can demand better including spending resources on building communities, spaces for young people, and human professional support
Seems like sex education is failing if more than half use it to explore sexuality. There's some deep root causes here that need to be addressed. AI is showing where we are letting these kids down that they need this sort of outlet. Would we rather they turn to 4chan or predatory chat rooms?

"The second track is riskier but can be much faster. If an applicant can find Trump at Mar-a-Lago or a White House event and ask for a pardon directly, Trump is often inclined to be helpful, administration officials said—particularly if someone says the magic words: “unjust persecution.”"
Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”

winning elections and exercising power

And, this isn’t a dunk, but I have to point out this is very particular to white women because Black women have always been expected to work.
It's also sort of funny that the argument here is basically "corporate jobs aren't fulfilling" but it's framed as if that's only true for women and specifically because of baby-raising and not just the reality of the workplace

The ussr collapsing the way it did is the fault of decades of mismanagement and corruption but also like if one singular republic that is the most responsible for the union’s death it’s the Russian SFSR and the post collapse Russian state/polis has continued to make it everyone’s else’s issue

We did so because we developed Grandmothers, and domesticated Dogs.
