I'm the author of A BAD DREAM WHERE YOU’RE BACK AT SCHOOL, a story that combines gut-wrenching horror, absurd comedy, and personal reflection on the alienation inherent to coming of age. It would mean a lot to me for you to read it. #Horror #BookSky #WriteSky

Stranger Things S1: oh no! People are getting attacked by the monsters from the Monsters Dimension.

Stranger Things S5: the Monsters Dimension is a place we regularly drive around in, only seldomly encountering monsters.

Ik so maybe the Stranger Things ep where Eleven joins a gang of Double Dragon enemy types kinda rules?

We already have flying cars. They’re called helicopters and they are insanely dangerous.

Lotta folks in my mentions arguing about aspects of this thread that I carefully hedged and caveated, which is fine by me but not something I'm interested in wading into much. Just remember, earnest liberals: A big antifascist tent has a left wing as well as a right wing.

Writing sci-fi is hard because really the whole job is coming up with new kinds of Torment Nexus to Don't Create.

Stranger Things S1: I really like Steve's arc here. There’s a lot of talk about Steve being justified breaking Jonathan's camera, but in the context of the whole season, Steve really is the bigger asshole of the two of them, and it’s not close.

Way more tired of hammer-and-sickle avatars being smugly condescending towards "liberals" because of the perverse inventives of their online social circles honestly.
Is everyone else getting a little tired of liberals fantasizing about how the administration is going to be charged and publicly executed any minute now?

This seems way more complicated and burdensome than just firing every one of these freaks and garnishing all future wages until every dollar of salary ever awarded to them is repaid.
"No personal firearms/gear, and a $500 limit on the value of your GI issued weapons and accessories"

If we have to deal with these tacticool jackasses, we can at least make them all use Hi Points.

Rewatching S1 of Stranger Things and it really is remarkable how much better this is on every level than the latest season. You can see why this revitalized Winona Ryder's career, she's excellent as a mother caught between grier, hope, and madness. New season gives her nothing to do!

bruno latour: in my paper "Why Critique Has Run Out of Steam," i invented the paranoid hermeneutic as a cautionary tale

engineers trying to do STS: at long last we have invented the paranoid hermeneutic from the famous STS paper "Don't Invent the Paranoid Hermeneutic."
this work is essentially garbage

Eh the oligarchy has really picked a side lately
The biggest divide in America today is not between “right” and “left,” or between Republicans and Democrats.

It’s between democracy and oligarchy.

The old labels — “right” and “left” — prevent most people from noticing they’re getting the shaft.

Know the truth.

Right, it's complex. Which is why sometimes you gotta just do something you believe in and hope fortune favors the bold.

In the interest of prison abolition, every ICE agent should have to repay every dollar ever awarded to them as salary, with garnished wages for all future employment, until their natural deaths if need be.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

We have no idea if this method of campaigning is better or worse at winning elections than doing it the Normal Way.
winning elections and exercising power
Man, if you don’t recognize the power of the message "even if we lose, the existence of this campaign still did some good in the world" then what do you even think politics is for?

It’s good Kamala Harris spent her money campaigning and not doing mutual aid! Generally we need candidates to try to win!
Kamala Harris literally wasted a billion and a half dollars but sure, okay, Kat Abughazaleh's way of doing things is the problem. Okay.

"I'm looking for someone with emotional intelligence" is just code for "I want to be able to yell at you over arbitrary bullshit that you could not have possibly anticipated or known about" right?

"Oh, you’re arguing aout what is and isn't a sandwich? Get a personality!" is more a try-hard type of personality than just arguing about the goddamn sandwiches imo

I totally missed that the skill that Nancy brings to the Stranger Things gang is Gun, when was thos established?

So of the couples that were introduced over the show, I'm thinking Robin/(robin's girlfriend, forget her name) and Lucas/Max are the only ones that are truly Gonna Make It.
Starting the last batch of Stranger Things eps. I hate this fake-ass Steve-Dustin drama. Ope, followed immediately by Steve-Nancy-Jonathan drama. Noah Schapp is such a weak link in this cast.

Having finished S2, I can now confidently say that the issue with Man on the Inside is that it's a bad show that sucks. A comedy that's basically never funny, a whodunnit that doesn't care about its mystery. All that's left is a deeply generic, sappy drama.
