We talk about Sam and Janet's totally platonic cohabitation and co-parenting of their adopted daughter.

But y'all are sleeping on this girl boss.

If you've ever poked your head into the Call of Duty fandom world, there's a lot of extremely homoerotic fanfiction there that is very clearly written by women so "tacticool fujo" is absolutely an untapped market
Military history and tactics are nominally cis male coded, but queers and women will become Napoleon if it means we can make two dolls kiss in a video game. I feel like there has to be a way to weaponize this. Have the Pentagon pay the Jagged Alliance guys to make a game with a romance system.

Because Prop 13 wasn't enough.

This is psychotic. Nordlinger v. Hahn needs to be overturned, but this is just worsening the plaintext 14th violation.
Such an asinine potential ballot initiative exempting 60+ from property taxes and no income limit, sponsored by Rishi Kumar, a former local Democratic elected.

"Kumar, declined to reveal his age and would only say he worked for an artificial intelligence company in Silicon Valley."
CA seniors could choose to opt out of property taxes under proposed initiative
“This has been brewing in our heads for the last two or three years,” said the person behind the measure.

I’d note that the “IT revolution” of the 90s is STILL taking place in many industries/use-cases. Relatedly of course there was massive over-capacity of fiber but now that’s being finally used in many places.

It's just one of those things in politics that's very interesting where frontliners are usually House R Leadership's strongest soldiers while Democratic frontliners often keep House D leadership at arm's length (or at least need to be seen as keeping them at arm's length)
weird how so many democrats from competitive seats feel compelled to vote against the party line (and national interest), but republicans don't. makes you wonder if they are taking bad advice that has little to do with electoral performance, and GOP pols know this

I used to live in El Paso (which gives me zero insight into this) but I want to make a basic point because most US Americans have never been there: this is a large city of almost 700,000 people. It’s in the top 25 for the country. More than twice Pittsburgh and more than Milwaukee, for example

This is my most aggressively PMC take.

FAFSA is ridiculously welfare-cliffed, and we should either compel parents to actually make the projected contribution, or just do a broad based-tax raise to fund universities instead of a weird patriarchal bank-shot financial aid system.
Also, FAFSA is an abomination that presumes parents will give assistance in amounts that they seldom do.

(And not even always from unwillingness)

A very real dilemma: you really can’t a lot of stuff this administration puts out BUT reducing trust in government in general is very bad for progressive causes and ultimately great for the populist right
Bluesky in a nutshell.

Some context: BLS released its jobs numbers today, which were better than expected, and resistance libs would rather stay mad/conspiratorial than listen to actual on-the-ground experts that the data is still reliable.

I don't particularly care for the man, nor a great deal of his politics.

But he *did* substantively change the nature of American politics.

Eugene McCarthy also sucked. He also arguably made Democrats better, even if he himself wasn't one of the improvements.
I never particularly liked Sanders because I find him grating and I think class first socialism is a bad way of looking at the world to begin with, but man you just can't look at this site in particular and conclude that his political career has been anything other than an enormous net negative.
