1) every time LLMs have been tested for coding it has been found it makes development slower, although it feels faster

2) they are useless for "general enquiries" because they have no mechanism to detect truth, they just spit out likely text in a way that emulates human produced output

If you just banked that coffee money every week and denied yourself every other instance of life’s gastronomic pleasures, however small and ordinary, you could save enough to make the down payment on that starter house in [checks notes] five hundred and seventy three years
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

The long-term health effects of a religious childhood are not uniform, a new study of older Europeans finds. On average, the experience is linked to poorer self-rated health, though the association differs across health domains.

I talk to many professional #UX designers and no one is using genAI in any MEANINGFUL way to revolutionize their design work.

Sure, everyone is playing with it, and it can do some cool parlor tricks, but there isn't anything significant happening in design.

This needs to be said louder.

Anyone who started their web development career in the last ten years has come up in an era where you frequently learn React as your first exposure to building websites

Try surveying people on how they would implement a search feature using an HTML <form> with no JavaScript

I knew my grandma number as a geometry shape.
Not too dissimilar from current days PIN numbers for banks, reason why I forget them if I don't use them often.
They weren't just numbers, they were physical patterns.
sooo much was different about the 70s-80s phone ecosystem. I mean, yes, you memorized a few key 7-digit numbers (my best friend's was 392-2280) but it wasn't hard because you also dialed them, one number at a time, every time you made a call - lots of physical practice of any number you called often

Social media, meaning the spaces for people to meet and socialize globally, has been dead for possibly 10 years already.

What we have now is parasocial media: a form of mass media where there’s illusion of relationships covering a high virality broadcast tool controlled by algorithms.
