I know I'm posting more often -- maybe too much -- but it's the only way I can cope.

On one hand, I refuse to stay silent about the horrible things that are happening.

On the other hand, I refuse to let them distract me from the things that bring us joy and usefulness.

Kākāpō numbers are recovering at such a rate that we are running out of pest-free islands to put them on.

Pope Leo said in a Christmas Eve sermon on Wednesday that the story of Jesus being born in a stable because there was no room at an inn should remind Christians that refusing to help the poor and strangers today is tantamount to rejecting God himself.

When decimalisation occurred in 1966, the Australian government compiled an 81 page file on dangers of using decimal coins in Christmas puddings. There was a media campaign warning people not to use the new coins in their cooking. The file is now digitised.

as many of you know, I'm not Christian but always loved Christmas. My wish:
may the light in you and your loved ones shine bright
may that light comfort and inspire others
may our lights dispel darkness and fear
may they give the gift of hope
may we walk in light, unafraid, towards what is to be
