this isnt one of those bigotries like xenophobia that can sway the masses because the masses dont think we have any impact on their lives. transphobia just doesnt mobilize the populace which is why after a decade its still a phenomenon driven entirely by media and elite capture

Ho-lee Shit. This is phenomenally good news. Department of Education rolls back— for now— its attempts to destroy Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility initiatives. Keep an eye on them, of course, and watch for the hidden knife, always, but for now: Fantastic news.
BREAKING: The Department of Education has ended its directive that attempted to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in schools nationwide.

This is a victory for academic freedom and education equity.

I guess people have forgotten that Trump started the pandemic by refusing to test and bringing in tens of thousands of people in crowded airports. and then stole PPE from blue states. and then suggested bleach or UV light might cure it. and then tried to kill Biden with it. and then

I’m always keen to clarify this because! If your dr prescribes you antibiotics, PLEASE take them!! You need them! And you need to finish the whole course, even if you feel better with several days left. That’s a very important element.

Okay so this is true *but* not in the way most people think. Antibiotic overuse is not “I had five ear infections in a year so I took antibiotics five times this year”
It’s
“Farmers feeding antibiotics to chicken to make them fatter and more profitable” and “labs dumping chemicals into the river”
Although in fun news from science, in some ways antibiotics kinda are causing worsening disease as our overuse deepens resistance. There are people in hospitals right now dying of bugs which would have been treatable 20 years ago. Though something tells me this is not the point being made here

Today is the first day of Ramadan, the first day of Adar, Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras.

This means that for one reason or another, the majority of humans on the planet have a reason to eat fried food, and that is beautiful.
Ramadan Mubarak!

Talked to my boomer parents, my barometer for “relatively normal liberals” and they‘re furious about (in no particular order): wealth consolidation. The Epstein class. ICE. AI making everything worse.

People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.

I swear my cat has some sort of sixth (seventh? Eighth?) sense for when I’m trying to take a pic.

Fast asleep with her paw over her eyes cutely, and as soon as I point the camera at her she’s awake.

Even just taking a single “history of ancient medicine” class showed me how awful things were. I can’t imagine what horrors an actual historian on the subject has seen.
Historian of medicine here. Yes. Yes, they did.
before antibiotics did people just die all the time from everything?

Reupping this today
A Dem that runs as pro trans gets a SIXTY ONE POINT BUMP WITH DEM VOTERS and a NINE POINT BUMP WITH INDIES over ones that go silent.

The failure to get this is a prior beliefs/incentives problem but it's also a research problem. The current establishment's understanding of voters is utterly cooked.
Relevant to that is another finding in the poll. A theoretical officeholder that speaks up about these issues is preferred by:

ICE raids D+72 I+40
Trans D+61 I+9
Gaza genocide D+33 I-24

Guessing that Gaza one was a question wording effect, but if you're running a a Dem, those are your voters.

tbh it feels like Dem voters who do this are not only in the terminal stages of Strategist Brain but have also internalized the Dem tendency to negotiate against themselves

You START with high demands. You START with exactly what you want plus extra. You only go down once that point is established
Re that last RT, i can totally understand pivoting to “vote for the lesser of the two evils” *once primaries are over and it’s a two person race* what i don’t understand are the people insisting you have to eat shit months or even years out from a primary! Why should I eat shit!

The United States is purposefully blockading Cuba from accessing fuel that powers everything from grocery stores to hospitals. People will die. Children will die. What's being done to the people of Cuba is monstrous.

The people in power were ok with it in Gaza and now they're doing it to Cuba.
