Please understand that the people who are warning you about Newsom are doing the work. Here. Now. WELL BEFORE a primary. To prepare you! I did not vote for Biden in the primary. Best believe I voted for him in the presidential election though.

Homeschooling, like supplements, is the Wild West and its proponents want it that way for *reasons*
A Kanawha County delegate is proposing changes to state homeschool laws in the wake of a historic child abuse case in his county. A couple brought their adopted children to West Virginia and abused them, forced them to do heavy labor, locked them in a shed and more, reports @amelianews.bsky.social.

Two things that are both true:

1.) American conservatism has always been far worse than voters are willing to believe.

2.) The groyperization of the GOP has been a world historical catastrophe which will echo for generations.

Reminder that Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

Now, Starbucks is lifting a cap on the CEO's use of a private jet to commute from California to Seattle.

It's been four years since Starbucks stores began unionizing and workers still don't have a contract.

Why you don’t use “say their name” for white people.
The man who was killed last night wasn't the first Black man killed by government forces in DC since the government occupation of DC. He's like the 6th or 7th. If you're Black, you know that's how it is, no one makes a fuss over our murders & they're not big news.

Poking Ursula is fraught with peril. She's a delight, but every so often...

Look, it's like a piñata that's full of delightful, wonderful candy. But every tenth piece of candy skitters away on spider legs.

Our family dog would bring me toys when I was super depressed. Not to throw for her! Just to have. We suspect the chain of doggy-logic was “toys make me happy! Maybe they help him.”

(And this was a terrier, not one of the breeds known for emotional intelligence.)

It's VAPORWARE.

Really wondering when people in general are going to wake up to how thoroughly diseased this entire practice is

Just utterly wretched and corrosive in every possible way, the people behind it are moral voids and should be banished to a remote island
Polymarket should be burned to the ground for even offering shit like this

When I worked at a museum I once got a woman asking me how the Mayans were influenced by the Atlanteans. My stammered “… Atlantis like from Plato?” was not the answer she was looking for. I definitely had a blue screen moment.

I also think it's really important to note that

THE NATIONAL GUARD IS STILL IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

and

PEOPLE ARE STILL BEING KIDNAPPED IN MAINE AND LOS ANGELES

So even if they leave Minnesota, the struggle to end the kidnappings continues

Folks. You can just block the people saying stupid shitty things. We don’t all need to respond or- worse!- quote them. Just block them. (Especially when it’s a small account. This is not worth highlighting)

I have seen too much of what is to come. I have no real way to process it, never mind change it. No wonder I have crippling anxiety.

"will you vote for newsom in the general" is designed to undermine the left opposition to him *in the primary.* it's meant to show that the left can be ignored because they'll come around or that they can be ignored because they're a lost cause. the mission *now* is to make newsom lose the primary.
democratic primary voters keep fucking up and we're trying to get ahead of it this time by letting them know that newsom isn't electable

For real, I am so tired of explaining to colleagues that all it does is pattern-match. That Apple paper showing its reasoning conks out after about 37000k tokens? Is because humans *rarely write out every detail of long-form reasoning* because we don't have to and it's boring. No examples.
Also I’m sorry but I don’t think this is Claude developing a personality or ethical values. It is *simulating* those things because that is what humans value and reward. The programmers are falling for their own Clever Hans trick!
