Earbuds go in at work when the guy who probably is making 500k starts arguing he shouldn't have to tip in some circumstances.

Dem voters are going to spin their wheels calling for Schumer to resign while whoever would take over for him would do the exact same things he's done. The. same. things. The rot is pervasive.

@bebopott.bsky.social will love this -- looking for something else, I found that Citizens for Judy Baar Topinka is still active -- they filed paperwork for 3rd quarter 2025. Judy's been dead for more than a decade. Her campaign fund has $400,000 in it. They're only expense? Keeping a PO box.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

This is intentional, the Dem caucus caved and nominated those 8 to take the fall.
Not a single one of the eight up for reelection this coming cycle. 🤔
THE FOLLOWING DEMOCRATIC SENATORS VOTE “YES” ON THE CONTINUING RESOLUTION IN EXCHANGE FOR NOTHING:

MAGGIE HASSAN (NH)

CATHERINE CORTEZ MASTO (NV)

JEANNE SHAHEEN (NH)

JACKY ROSEN (NV)

DICK DURBIN (IL)

TIM KAINE (VA)

ANGUS KING (ME)

JOHN FETTERMAN (PA)

ITS OVER

My Chicagoland favorite for this is @oofd.org
please learn about your local ecosystems. please. its so sad and strange to me how many people live in a place and learn nothing about the land that surrounds them and the ways in which that land has grown and changed and flourished for hundreds of years before your town even existed

all of the calls for "moderating on trans issues" are just an excuse to launder the author's own bigotry into the political sphere

do the right thing and tell them to go to hell, support trans rights

Are we just delaying the inevitable by having our ungovernable racist squad of thugs provide cover for the federal ungovernable racist squad of thugs? Or is the hope that somehow some incredibly slow moving federal check and balance is happening that delay helps prevent an even worse escalation?

I'm struck by how many Chicagoans have seemingly felt compelled to write and share reflections on "this is what it feels like in Chicago right now". We know we're going through something awful together and we want the world to understand it.

Threading several of these pieces below.

My nearest library has a sign up saying ICE is not welcome, CPD helps ICE even though it's against the law. Which one should have its funding cut next year?
Alderman Sigcho Lopez’s recent IG live is worth a watch. 22 min of him talking as he follows federal agents. He talks about what happened today in Little Village and this week. He calls out CPD for protecting ICE at one point & also speaks to an escalation in the attack on our communities.
