Florida: we deported all your hard working employees, but have no fear, we're bringing back child labor to fix it.

Seems like Democrats have all sorts of messaging opportunities here
Florida AG James Uthmeier: "We need to focus on getting people into the workforce even earlier. We passed legislation last year to help high school students get their hands dirty and get on job sites more quickly."

oh this tickled me 😂
As a kid I disliked Jesse Jackson because at a some social justice event where they served breakfast he cut the line and took the last of the sausage patties. I loudly called him out, embarrassed my parents and "ruined the event". Mr. Jackson talked to my parents and apologized. I got fussed at.

I’m sitting today with how much Jesse Jackson was a builder of the world I came into (by the time I was born he had already run for President once!). A load-bearing political figure; and we are now living through people trying to tear down the world he helped build. (Hell no.)

His alleged mistress left her precious heated blanket on the other plane, so Corey Lewandowski demanded the pilot turn the plane around to go get it.

When he refused, Lewandowski -- who has zero authority to fire anyone at any time -- tried to fire the pilot IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLIGHT.
it's even worse than first reported

the fucking guy caused an inflight disruption so bad the pilot had to leave the command deck then he was like I RELIEVE U OF DUTY

New details emerge about in-flight blow-up between Corey Lewandowski and pilot

really sad about the death of rev. jesse jackson this morning and i'm gonna be writing something about it for @theringer. but in the meantime, a couple of recommendations.

Demoralized Democrats Have a Road Map for Success in Trump’s America. It Was Written by Jesse Jackson.
Jesse Jackson first ran for president during the national farm bust of the early 1980s. Debt for farmers had exploded from $85 billion in 1976 to $216 ...

Another thing to take into account about Jesse Jackson's presidential runs: So many political operatives on every campaign came from his campaigns. Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton AND Kamala Harris enlisted Jesse Jackson alum in the presidential campaigns.

Imagine a fahrenheit 451 thing. A few enclaves of people preserving civilization.

This guy remembers Shakespeare. This woman remembers Finnish folk tales. This guy knows how to make sushi.

They turn expectantly to your boomer parent. "What are you preserving?"

I realize that this is partly inspired by the story of someone asking George Harrison “why did your production company invest in Life of Brian” “because I wanted to watch it”
If I suddenly were as wealthy as MacKenzie Scott I would a) give away as much of it as she is be similar lack of strings but b) save a little bit out to found a production company to make stupidly lavish historical series like Rome (HBO). Which then get given to PBS so everyone can watch

Year hell, I give more by percentage in a single MONTH and I bet a lot of you do too
Fascinating chart with one outlier: Warren Buffett.

At the low end, giving 0.06% of one's wealth is equivalent to:

Net worth -> Lifetime Giving
50K->$30
100K->$60
500K->$300
$1M->$600

Most folks give far more by % in a *single year*.

being a nondriver gives you an outsider view in American society, and one thing you notice is that we’ve made the very odd and not great decision to outsource our de facto national ID to state DMVs
Democrats should get behind a voter ID law that only goes into effect when 99.9% of the eligible population has a valid ID and automatically pauses when the number falls below that. The fact that Republicans would never accept this would make clear what the real point of voter ID laws is.
