Corporate CEOs' breathless predictions of generative AI-fueled work disruption ought always to be considered in light of the fact that their companies have billions invested in the tech that, statistically, few use or want.
As AI wipes jobs, Google CEO Sundar Pichai says it’s up to everyday people to adapt accordingly: ‘We will have to work through societal disruption’ | Fortune
AI isn’t just coming for entry-level workers. Google CEO Sundar Pichai says no job, not even his own, is safe. But those who don’t adapt will be the first to fall.

MORE Breaking on MS NOW: Pete Hegseth refused an interview request for the Pentagon Inspector General's investigation into Signalgate, according to two sources who read and were briefed on report.

Hegseth would not turn over his phone, a source who read the report told MS NOW.
Breaking on MS NOW: The Signalgate report contradicts Pete Hegseth's claims he did nothing wrong. It shows he "violated policy by using a non-approved device," a source who read the report says.

Hegseth failed to preserve records. The report says he put the operations and service people at risk.

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

Reporting this🧵given the new reporting. Which is correct reporting unlike the garbage from 8 to 10 days ago.
DOGE isn’t gone. The 19-26 year olds burrowed in to the agencies they were assigned to. We’ve got dozens of unqualified 19-26 year old GS15s still pursuing Musk’s agenda, which is stealing everyone’s PII/data, all contracting info, moving it onto his servers, & mining it for his profits. 1/
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

A most important question on the Sept. 2 double-tap strike is who had "target engagement authority" (TEA).

Wall Street Journal:

"A Defense Department official ... said Hegseth was the 'target engagement authority,' the key figure who authorized the strike."

When scientists realised what it was in the 1970s, they warned it was an everyone disease. It was reported as such in the news.
Then 1980s, Reagan/Thatcher, eugenics. It became a 'this group' disease. For covid, the chosen group is 'the vulnerable'. 80s media was homophobic. 2020s media is ableist.

there is no legitimate definition of the term "democracy" under which maps like these are "democratic." this level of stovepiping is banana republic shit. this is effectively no different from stuffing a ballot box
Indiana Republicans have unveiled their proposal to re-gerrymander the congressional map & expand their current 7-2 majority to 9-0.

The Dem-held 1st would flip to Trump+12 & the 7th to Trump+19. All 7 GOP seats would be at least Trump+18.

It's so fucking infuriating to see the effect that AI is having on artists' ability to make a living.

It doesn't have to be this way.
I'm really gutted about this. I spent over ten years building my website, it's what launched my writing career. But between AI hijacking all my traffic, literally, traffic from searches is almost 0 now, and my host raising fees to be hundreds of dollars for the year, I just can't anymore.
