borders are fake, and america is what it is in the best sense due to periodically recognizing that

you know the Nazis also blamed the Jews for Kristallnacht, you can find many German diplomats expressing regret about the events followed by "but what can you expect when the Jews act this way?"

...Please stop resting your hopes on a general strike.

General strikes are to leftism what raptures are to the far-right.
A general strike might have stopped the active phase of the coup.

There was no strike or anything like that. Just a few performative protests over the summer.

As it's becoming obvious to everyone except perhaps Americans themselves that the US has positioned itself on the side of autocracies -

>The officer then said that even a swift return of America to its former role won’t matter.

>Because “we will never fucking trust you again.”

Accurate.

Leftists think that no leftward progress has been made in the past few decades so they're blind to how APOCALYPTIC the last few decades have been for the right.

This is why leftist analysis of the right fails. They attribute everything to "economic anxiety" instead of bigots seeing their world end.
This is the crux of the bargain white ppl made voting for trump & the gop. "Rid us of brown ppl & make white ppl the majority again & we will sacrifice our jobs, savings, homes, and even children." They 💯 factored in those losses & decided it was worth it. That's why nothing else he does matters

The whole war on “woke” and “cancel culture” was contrived to protect the worst people in our society and make it possible for them to keep doing despicable things to other people.

The many monarchs of Europe, the slaver's Confederacy, the Kaiser, the Nazis, the Italian fascists, Imperial Japan and many more all assumed that because liberals value peace and human life, that they were weak and feckless and easily beaten.

Go look for them now.
I think fundamentally the problem with post liberal thinkers is that they seem to assume that vanquishing liberalism results in their enemies being converted or defeated and not becoming radicalized into enemies who no longer extend the mercies they once did.

And yes, the operative word is “public.”

Most everyone HAS defeatist, doomer thoughts. I know I do.

Keep those to yourself, the small group chat, or your friends and family.

The world does not need a *public broadcast* of your dark nights of the soul in dangerous times like these.

In short, force them to try to rule by naked force because they *do not* have enough force and the very nakedness of it will mean they have less and less.

The Civil Rights movement overcame far more with far less, if we had a fraction of their courage, we'll win.

which is to ask, what is the standard by which we conclude democrats no longer use this language, if actual evidence of its rarity doesn’t count? if the standard is “republicans no longer accuse them of it,” then you’re just illustrating the basic problem with this discourse

It's going to be really important, forever and ever, for Democrats to tie every single current Republican politician to the ruin that Trump is bringing about. No forgiveness, no second chances, no bygones-are-bygones. Attack them mercilessly forever. Make them OWN their pathetic subservience.

The modern GOP sneers at both the notion of universal self-governance or self-determination and that of you have any obligation to the country besides just passively accepting things. It’s directly opposed to the idea of meaningful democratic citizenship with rights and duties.
