Everyone ragging on Schumer is missing that by Schumer saying it's "common sense" to enact reforms, he's putting Republicans on the hook.

He's creating a framing where if Repubs don't go along, then Repubs have to keep trying (and failing) to explain why the reforms aren't common sense.
Schumer on DHS reforms: "I believe Republicans will have no choice but to go along with us because it's so common sense"

I know incrementalism is a pain in the ass because it's slow and clogged up in bureaucracy, and trans people are the "easiest" sacrificial lamb for non-progressive politicians, but I'd rather take the person who might stab me over the person actively sending death squads out to other communities.

I feel that’s where they don’t understand the big picture. The GOP moved so far to the right because the crazies voted in every election to gain small victories. If they want the Dems to be more progressive, they need to show up everywhere for the small victories since it adds up

yeah i was wrong there's been huge backslides on trans rights in the Democratic strongholds of Florida and Texas
Yeah, the worst there's been is "sports regulations", sure.

LGBTQ and BI-POC books have been greatly diminished if not outright banned in Florida and Texas.

There's been multiple bathroom bans.

Invasive bills that allow teachers to inspect students genitals in school.

HRT made harder to access.
damn it sure seems like this guy fucking sucks and i should never have to see any of his dumbass opinions on my timeline ever again in my life

"Every election can't be a life-or-death one. The public cannot sustain this."

Begging some of y'all to sit down & reconcile yourselves to the fact that has been the status quo for non-white voters since the Civil Rights Act passed 60 years ago (and is increasingly shared by the queer community).

remember when they got rid of the public editor because Twitter could serve that function instead
FWIW, I just emailed NYT's standards editor to ask about the paper's policy on this. Will update if I get a response.
Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

Biden was the most economically progressive president since LBJ at least, he pursued a full-employment economy at huge political risk, it worked spectacularly.

And what happened is that the entire progressive universe decided that he must not have done any of it, or else he would have been popular
Are the progressive economic policies in the room with us right now?

It’s extraordinarily dangerous twice over: we convince ourselves that we can be popular by enacting the exact policies that just failed to make us popular, AND we alienate people who gambled on our policies by refusing to acknowledge they enacted them

DAMN this is sad...
This is hilarious, but also it would be so much less insulting to just have it say, "sorry that type of interaction is prohibited with this model" or something, rather than having it write you an essay about how you're a loser.
Apparently the new model tells them to touch grass and they are not digging it

Literally every last argument against voting blue no matter who I've ever seen from social media leftists boils down to "VOTING IS SHOPPING AND THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! I DEMAND TO SPEAK TO DEMOCRACY'S MANAGER!"

People keep telling me that Biden and Trump were the same on immigration.
The previous record high of as during Covid…. Under 🍊💩

Leftists: I'll NEVER vote for you!

Democrats: Okay, I'll see if these moderates will vote for me.

Leftists: Why are you moving to the right?!

Bluesky: Democrats are weak and cowardly.

Reality:
Republicans: "I was just foolin'."

Democrats: "I wasn't."

Spoiler alert…

THIS IS WHY!!!
February 16, 2026 at 3:17 AM
People ask why the Democrats aren't doing more to stop the Republicans. The answer is twofold:

1. Because, as the minority, they usually can't.

2. Because obstructionism isn't popular unless people know that what's being obstructed is bad.

Being this cutesie coy about your vote is fucking disgusting.

So tired of people taking this right for granted when there are others around the world who are literally killing to have that same right.
I will crawl through broken glass to vote against a a Republican bc my life depends on it.
