All these statistics come from a massive new project on life expectancy and inequality that was just published in the Journal of the American Medical Association."

If Maduro was smart he would just cut to the chase and hire Pam Bondi’s brother as a pardon attorney and bypass all this trial stuff.

they're doing it for gender, imo
It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

It's always amazing to think on the endless assertions of the discrimination against conservatives in Academia and compare it with the career of Ferguson, who hasn't written a serious book in two decades, has been caught involved in serious malfeasance, but keeps getting more prestigious sinecures.

Journalists often talk about how the media's business model is broken, but I would gladly pay the first news organization that starts profiling the individual ICE and CBP agents involved in terrorizing people
Unacceptable behavior from ICE in Salisbury, NC today. Attempting to intimidate U.S. citizens is a major abuse of power. 1/5/26

I've felt for years that an obvious pitch for a young journalist's first book is to join law enforcement. Tell us what the hiring and recruitment process actually looks like, the personalities dominating the culture, and how norm enforcement works.

CBS has scrubbed Dokoupil’s botched segment from what it calls the “full broadcast” of his Evening News debut, re-recording it for YouTube viewers. Watch how markedly different it is: youtu.be/uJjWTFZW2Eo

A reminder that just a few days ago Dokoupil wrote: “I can promise you we’ll be more accountable and more transparent than Cronkite or any one else of his era."

Is this what more transparent looks like?

This "big picture" monologue/analysis(?) is a lot more problematic than the b-roll and graphic miscues:

In it, Dokoupil says that China and Russia were "building a presence in Venezuela"? Says who? From where? How? And why?
"First day... first day, big problems here. Uh, are we going to Kelly here or are we gonna go..."

Trump/Hegseth/Rubio killed 40 Venezuelan civilians two days ago. They've been murdering random fishermen for weeks.

Think about that. Really think about that. Think about shaking the hand of someone responsible for that. Think about writing a news article about them and not mentioning that.

Unless I’ve missed something—and pls update if so—major news orgs seem profoundly uninterested in the death toll from the Venezuela raid. Nowhere to be found on MSM home pages.

Local sources say 80 dead. Isn’t that worth pursuing, even if it’s just examining the credibility of the sourcing?
So we now appear to be up to at least 80 Venezuelans killed.

For an operation that anonymous admin officials said yesterday was"virtually flawless."
