Liam has been on my mind constantly the past 2 weeks. This picture was seared into my brain; it is evidence of the total lack of humanity within this administration.
Many thanks to @danilawaart.bsky.social for allowing me to recreate this beautiful work as crop art.

note to national Democrats: you can do this too when you have the majority

there is nothing stopping court expansion other than norms that have long since become obsolete in the face of a radical, out of control majority currently enabling a fascist lunatic
The Utah governor just signed a bill to expand his state's supreme court by two seats.

Conservatives have been angry at a series of judicial rulings, including one that safeguarded direct democracy in 2024 & one that struck down their gerrymander. 1st step of their retaliation.

The funny thing about a certain type of angry conspiracy guy is that they’re literally being confronted with an elite paedophile ring and a tyrannical government at the same time right now, and because it isn't being done by the people they wanted it to be done by they’re all being pussies about it

Kyiv's local authorities are evacuating elderly and low-mobility people living alone to boarding houses due to the lack of heating and electricity.

It's day XXX of russia's crime against humanity — one the free world could have stopped, but chose not to.

Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse serving veterans. He died trying to protect protestors being assaulted. A group of anonymous & masked men fired chemicals into his face, beat him, disarmed him, and shot him in broad daylight in front of witnesses. Then his government smeared him & defended his murder.

The EU cut a deal with Trump on tariffs, hoping it would get him off their backs. Hopefully they have learned the lesson: any concession simply invites more demands. The only way to beat a bully is to tell him to go to hell.

This misunderstands the economics of professional sports. If Coke were to put Pepsi out of business, that would be great for Coke. But if the Dodgers were to be so good at "building their business" that it put the Pittsburgh Pirates out of business, that would be terrible for the Dodgers.
People replying to this with “why not just give them the World Series now?”

Because the difference between a good team and a great team is pretty small in a random set of 162 games and also they have to go through multiple rounds of basically 50/50 playoffs?
I have a hard time hating the Dodgers for doing an A+ job building their business and team and then paying their players a lot. I certainly don’t think it’s a good reason to keep players from getting paid as much as they can get.

SCOTUS said that it is up to the political branches to enforce the Emoluments Clause. So a Dem President will simply send federal marshals to every Trump residence and they will simply retrieve every single gift he illegally kept.
She gave it to the US government! Send the Navy Seals and Secret Service to take it back from Mar-a-Lago in 2029.

This is another reason why robust prosecutions of lawbreakers in the Trump administration will be important: to signal to allies and partners (and domestic audiences) that MAGA isn't going to return every 4 to 8 years.

You do that by putting a bunch of people in prison forever.

Attempting to criminalize the actions of an independent public servant, Fed Chair Jay Powell, for the sin of acting independently is an outrage. It's bad economics, bad politics, bad for the rule of law, bad for the public sector, bad for American credibility and bad for Americans.

There is not one administration official, nor evidently a single journalist covering this story, who understands the Monroe Doctrine. It is basically the opposite of what Miller et al think.
Also, Mr. Miller, tell me you don't understand the Monroe Doctrine without telling me you don't understand the Monroe Doctrine.

I'll tl;dr it for you, Stephen. The Monroe Doctrine was a fundamentally ANTI-colonial and ANTI-imperial policy. It wasn't a declaration of some kind of American...
