... hey does anyone know if this ended up happening? I just read Sen. Slotkins statement on the attack and did not mention illegal orders, but she did accuse the fishing dingies Trump blew up of carrying cocain and said Trump should be going after Mexican cartels, so. I guess there's that?
The members who did the "don't follow illegal orders" video absolutely need to immediately do a "hey these were the illegal orders we were talking about and participating in them can expect to face consequences to the fullest extent of the law" video

Okay, but I actually think, at least in Trump's mind, this one is 100% about stealing oil. He has been remarkably consistent over the past year that American foreign policy has entirely revolved around extracting resources.

I was resistant to the notion stealing oil was a large part of the motivation for this war but I accepted it as the Trump Admin kept saying, almost outright, "we're going to war in Venezuela to steal it's oil for ourselves". Not sure why my side of Bluesky loves contarianism re; oil and gas industry

A side story is there’s a ton of insider trading on these prediction markets. New accounts making hundreds of thousands on their first and only trade, that maduro would be ousted. Seems like insider trading is legal if not encouraged on these platforms

It is worse than that: many Americans do not believe they should suffer for politics to occur. So when the shutdowns started causing pain, this pain was sufficient excuse to abandon politics. We are fighting against fascists who weaponize pain as a party that will avoid pain at all costs.
The Democrats helped shut down the government and showed you can exercise some real power in the minority. Then they gave it away for nothing rather than extracting concessions.
Americans who demand nothing of their elected leaders are some of the most pathetic people in the country.
