it's cool that so many people in positions of power and influence were so negatively polarized by "wokeness" that they convinced themselves that there was an actual debate about who wanted to erase history and the "wokes" were on the wrong side bsky.app/profile/arch...
"Slavery was real"

Tiny sign at the base of a brick wall that, until yesterday, held panels about the people enslaved by George Washington.

This has kept me sane
I cannot, during these horrific times, recommend enough the importance of making pockets of time to just do things that are not related to anything but the joy of being alive and playing. You need it. You do. It will keep you whole. Which we need. We need you whole.

I will admit, the innocuous rhetorical device that makes me irrationally furious is "history will remember this" or "we're on the right side of history". History will say that whoever died deserved it, and whoever won must have deserved it too; they'll write the same fucking epitaphs no matter what.

The crowd already inside the Target Center are doing the wave. Minnesota is charmingly goofy.

The district court pretty quickly rejects the absurd claim from prosecutors that protesting during a church service (charged conspiracy against rights) is a "crime of violence."

If you get right down to it, all laws are enforced at something resembling gunpoint, but usually somebody who reduces everything to that is just a chronically dishonest person, because the details matter. Or theyre 19 and stoned

Interesting observation
I keep thinking about how this country has had us putting kids and teachers and school staff through active shooter drills for 20+ years and how those drills have unlocked a ferocious courage that will factor in to this moment in time.

All of this.

Disrupt the “violence comes from emotions running too high” narrative whenever you can.

Patriarchal violence doesn’t come from someone losing control. It comes from someone using a very specific set of tactics to seek more control than they already have.
This is it right here. Law enforcement personnel who move 0 to 60 with their aggression when "executing detention orders" are doing so from learned behavior - it is not instinctual to smash a car window, cut someone's seat belt, drag them out of their car and throw them to the ground. It's taught.
Watching these videos of ICE attacking children, I can’t help but think about how many of these men first practiced their violence in their own homes.

Domestic violence teaches our oppressors to dehumanize the most vulnerable among us.

The irony is that I assumed if we got to the “show your papers/people getting kidnapped” stage I would leave the country and build a new life abroad. But morally I can’t leave my vulnerable neighbors to suffer alone. I try to remind myself many famous good figures in history were just regular folks.

Today would be a good day for SCOTUS to rule against Trump on Lisa Cook and Tariffs.
Yet another data point supporting the view that there is change afoot in the global financial system.

I know it's trite, but this is all "how to dismantle a reserve currency."

The dollar as the go-to haven in times of crisis, well, that appears (again) to be shaky.

For those not aware, the population of Portland is about 70,000. That's roughly equal to the population of Turlock, CA, a place you have never heard of even if you were born there.
Should go without saying but it is appalling how racist the Portland Maine operation is. Obviously it is All rabid, lawless racial profiling and militarized barbarism, but there are about seven people who live in Portland right now. There is no reason to do a federal invasion of it except that it…

They are never, ever going to win in Minnesota.

Are there trainings out there that people like around "opsec for American activists"?

I think we absolutely do have a problem with "tons of understandable free-floating paranoia, and too little standardized, approachable guidance on how to realistically assess risk" right now.

Something I don’t think polling fully captures is the intensity of unpopularity. “Strongly disapprove” covers a wide range of attitudes. There’s “this sucks” strongly disapprove and there’s “it is now my life mission to destroy all that you stand for at all costs” strongly disapprove.
the incredulous "this is bullshit, are you fucking kidding" tone here is a sign that you have turned someone into a lifelong radical against you and people like you

this is a stupid tactic used by stupid people who don't have any other ideas
ICE agent asked why he's taking pictures of a legal observer's car, replies: "Cuz we have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that."
