Here’s a good world the while! Who is so gross
That cannot see this palpable device?
Yet who so bold but says he sees it not?
Bad is the world, and all will come to naught
When such ill dealing must be seen in thought.

The US should not be allowed to make Australia complicit in nuclear war. 50 years ago Whitlam believed that and he was right.

It’s time to end AUKUS. Close Pine Gap.

I’m still amazed that the sub judice aspect has been ignored in the rolling media campaign for a Bondi royal commission.
In case you’ve not read about it (and why would you) I’ve written about it here:

trump got a lot of goodwill out of rightly shitting on bush (and therefore jeb) for the iraq war. but his big thing was "it was stupid not to take the oil!" -- he's so cooked now he thinks that was the real lesson. if you take the oil it will be good! hes got holes in his brain

no doubt @albomp.bsky.social is working on swallowing the absurd line about it just being a 'law enforcement operation' so as to avoid attracting trump's ire and keep shoveling billions into a furnace for submarines australia will never see
Trump invades Venezuela, kidnaps their president and declares he will now RUN the country!

AUS PM @albomp.bsky.social tweeted once, about "monitoring developments in Venezuela", without even mentioning or commenting on Trump's actions! Craven coward. 😠 #auspol #USA #Venezuela

Given everything happening right now, I updated this article with options for weather apps, web forms, and translation services — along with some tweaks to existing categories.

I hope it helps your transition off US tech!
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Nice story on Dutch artist Marte Röling and the album covers she created in the 1960s for jazz records that have since become rare.

this is your mission. our pedophile president needs you to jump out of a helicopter to kidnap a head of state and his wife so some oil ceos can make a lot of money. we’ll be watching from a resort in florida that still serves wedge salad and checking how many retweets we get. good luck soldier

Actually an impeachment that gets voted down at a minimum occupies floor time, and that does something. Opposition politics may not be about governing, but it's also not about projecting helplessness.
The only other alternative is violent revolution, so people who want that should call for it explicitly. An impeachment that gets voted down immediately won't do anything.
ah yes. let's wait until dems sweep house and senate in midterms so we can have two more years of crippling constitutional crises before trump cedes power peacefully

Obviously, the job of being a Republican Congressperson is to horse trade for stock tips, but if you believe in even the basic outline of public service, “do not egg on another 9/11-style event” should be Priority No. 1. And we’re barreling towards that outcome without impeachment and removal.

compare cold-blooded, clear-eyed republicans like my step-dad, who when asked in 2016 if he would vote for trump said, 'well, he's an asshole, but i'll vote for'im'
Even among nominally liberal reporters, I think there's still a virtually ironclad assumption that someone as irrational and impaired as Trump could not possibly ascend to the presidency, and that there must, therefore, be some kind of coherent intelligence behind what he says and does.
This is the wild part about the whole Trump experience, even when he says politically disastrous things, reporters rush in to fill in the blanks and steelman his arguments. As soon as they cut away from him saying “we’ll run it,” they cut to someone saying “obviously he didn't mean that.”
