What was I “known for” on Twitter? Gotta be this one:
For me it’s the time I went viral for a thread about my mom getting the Covid vaccine. It was RTd & shared thousands of times. High profile accounts followed me. NBC’s Today Show called.
Utter chaos. Image of the first tweet attached, also link to full text.

this should not be controversial 🫠

“It’s not that those things don’t matter: they absolutely goddamn do, & will keep on mattering, & I wouldn’t go on with the whole tedious business of teaching if I thought otherwise. It’s just that they never mattered much to the Times & they are, to appearances, mattering less and less by the day.”

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

Based on his self-described behavior in The Double Helix and these actions it is easy and appropriate to write him off as an ignorant jerk.
